Dennis Kucinich votes against Cap and Trade Bill HR 2454

    Thanks Dennis.

Please spare this thread the "Dennis is a (insert insult)" blather. Give credit where credit is due. I think he has his head on straight a good portion of the time. I had completely expected DK to vote in favor of this abomination. I am pleasantly surprised.
Apparantly DK hasn't been completely hoodwinked by the phony "enviromental revolutionaries"..

    Dennis Kucinich:
    Phone (202)225-5871

Of course you should also call and thank every single house member who voted against this piece of Nazi BS, but I'm sure RP already knows that I am grateful.

I wish people on this forum wouldn't lump all environmentalists in with the cap and trade people. People like Kucinich can see the difference, so can others.
if modern agriculture continues to follow the path it's on now, it's finished. The food-growing situation may seem to be in good shape today, but that's just an illusion based on the current availability of petroleum fuels. All the wheat, corn, and other crops that are produced on big American farms may be alive and growing, but they're not products of real nature or real agriculture. They're manufactured rather than grown. The earth isn't producing those things.. petroleum is! -Masanobu Fukuoka

Someone brought up the point that many democrats voted against this bill because they thought it was not enough. Do you know what Dennis's view is on this? If he voted against it because it was to much I'll give him credit however if he voted against it because he thought it was too weak then we shouldn't be promoting him over it.

Now, please IGNORE the first part of this, and skip on to what he is saying about the derivatives. The first part might make ya cringe, but hang on to yer hat.

    "It's the derivatives, stupid!"

YouTube - Dennis Kucinich on Clean Energy Act

I do believe he is a good man. I think a lot of "liberals" get this same sorta feeling when they listen to RP for the first time.
(that is not to compare the two in philosophy or anything)

I just posted the tube below.
    see for yourself.
DERIVATIVES. People look at ya like yer from Mars FCS when ya say that sometimes. Hell I can't think of one aide in one office that I called that even realized that this was about derivatives. DK is talking the hard core truth and I like it.

etc- I completely agree with you that we should not be supporting these people for the wrong reasons. Thank you for bringing this in to the conversation. I will be calling him to thank him for bringing up the fact that this is another bubble, and fueled by derivatives, and thank him for voting against it. I'm not thinking many Dems will be calling him to thank him.

Unfortunately that is why he voted against it. It wasn't strong enough. Had it more regulations, more money selling carbon credits, more money spent over seas, he would have voted for it. "We could have done better" is saying he agrees with the whole idea of government getting control of all this but it didn't go far enough.
    I was hoping though.

I didn't hear it like that.

You keep saying "we can do better", and that has been posted in other threads, blogs, even on the you tube I posted, but the fact of the matter is, we CAN do better. For some reason people are focusing on that statement, at the VERY end, RIGHT AFTER the rant about derivatives and taxes, rather than the statement about derivatives and tax increases and the cost to each family. It's disturbing. IMO, it's a whitewash. Look! Over there!

I do understand your concern, but right now, I see this as an opportunity rather than something more to bitch and moan about.

Reguardless of the D or R label that people look at. Dennis may have it wrong on alot of issues but I do belive that he is a genuine honest man and he might be wrong on some issues but atleast he fights for what he thinks is right.

Most environmentalists I know would have done farrrrrrrrrr more damage than even this abomination will do.

take it somewhere else buddy. This thread is about CAP AND TRADE, not capping your own trade.

I plant trees. LOTS OF EM. I like plants and veggies, and soil too... I like birds and bees and flowers and trees...
    Got a prob?
If YOU are not an "environmentalist", then YOU are the one who is lacking.
I like the old "angry/mad hippies" as well... They are the real deal. These "neohips" are somethin else. LOL

I think this is why RP refers to Kucinich as a friend. They have different ideologies; BUT at least they both HAVE ideologies. That alone seperates them from the majority.

    exactly.

    much respect.

Many liberals were opposed to it because it's a big new Corporate Welfare, Big Business/Big Government Collusion.

Well that is a GREAT reason to be opposed to it. It's the TRUTH!

I think a lotta "Liberals" understand what this means, but unfortunately, it is the neolibs that are lambasting propaganda that actually separates corporate welfare from private welfare. I'm not sure a lot of ppl understand that there is no "real" difference...
People bitch and moan about all the "incentives" given to the corporatocracy, but don't seem to link the "corporatocracy" to the "democracy". It's infuriating.

This was exceptionally brave of Kucinich. He is a real Democrat, who cares more about working class Americans than the profits of some Wall St firm. I prefer Ron Paul but I have an enormous respect for this man.

  27. #24
Probably because he couldn't read the whole bill before voting on it. He also voted against the Patriot Act.

    Great job, Dennis.

Can one say that some of the worst dictators in the world weren't "honest" and "genuine"?

He voted against it because it didn't tax people enough.

Anybody congratulating him needs to find out why he voted no.

He is a hardcore socialist. He wants the biggest, most oppressive government of anybody in Congress (maybe besides Bernie Sanders).

Millions and millions would die if he was a dictator. Stop giving points for have a core set of principles. So did Hitler. So did Stalin.

    ugh.
    We've gone through this.
Please watch his statement on the floor. I have commended him for being the "most unlilkely" to vote against the Crap and Trade, and I have commended him for telling people about DERIVATIVES.

I am thinking people are just muff diving at this point... After all, MJ is dead.

    gotta cruise.

    Nothing wrong with derivatives.

Any contract between two people that is made voluntarily is OK as long as it doesn't affect others. And derivative contracts are just the same as a gambling bet. If this happens, person A pays person B this amount. If this other things happens, person B pays person A this much...

He wants to keep the factories left in Ohio up and running. The people of the 'rust belt' states need to make it a point to vote out anyone who voted for this.
Don't taze me bro. Don't touch my junk. Don't tread on me.

Maybe you need a friend not into politics... http://saveadogrescue.com/ http://www.petfinder.com/pet-search?shelter_id=TX1472
