H.R. 500, the Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2007

According to Downsize DC, "H.R. 500, the Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2007, is well named. If passed into law it would trigger a cut in Congressional pay for each year in which the federal government runs a deficit."

Does anyone think we should throw our weight behind this bill, similar to the effort to promote HR 1207?

this would be a great idea.
The ultimate minority is the individual. Protect the individual from Democracy and you will protect all groups of individuals
Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual. - Thomas Jefferson
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Congress will take a ton of pay cuts for years if it passes. I don't see them passing this.

True, but this is something I think all americans would get behind. I mean if we were able to get commercials out asking people to contact their reps about this bill don't you think I would get everyday people thinking about stuff like this.

And if it doesn't pass then we can go out in the media again exposing them all for the crooks that they are/ use it against those that opposed the bill in the next election cycle.

    Doesn't mean we shouldn't try.

Hells yeah, all it takes is a 5 min phone call to your reps office. You should call about every piece of legislation you want attention too. We are a POWER.

At least we can see which Congressmen step up to the plate and co-sponsor it.

There's a Congressman from Texas who has already signed on.

    Care to guess which one?

    Bump

If I was costing my company money they would just write me up until they fire me. Congress needs an incentive to atleast try to be responsible

If there's enough interest in this, we should try to get Jim Babka from Downsize DC on "Freedom Watch" or Glenn Beck to talk about it.
