Default Grayson plans 8 fundraisers before deadline

    http://www.kentuckygazette.com/cover-more/

GOP fundraiser Cathy Bailey, who last month began laying groundwork for her own
Senate campaign, recently told the Lexington Herald-Leader that a candidate’s exploratory committee should raise at least $500,000 in its first quarter of activity. Bailey has not yet established an official fundraising committee with the FEC.
Republican Rand Paul, a Bowling Green ophthalmologist, established a Senate exploratory committee of his own on May 19.
All three are in the wings, preparing for a possible run for the seat now held by U.S. Sen. Jim Bunning. Bunning has said he will run for re-election, but national Republicans have indicated he’s not strong enough politically to win.

8 fundraisers.. worth at least eighty grand. What does Rand have lined up before the end of the month?

Grayson trying to show up Bunning?

Grayson wants to run, and I think he's going to whether Bunning drops out or not. If he raises substantial funds, he can say "look, I'm in the exploratory phase and I'm keeping up with Bunning" and use that as a reason to enter the race. This of course, would mean that Rand would officially* enter the race too.

**Yeah, yeah. I know, FEC lists him as a candidate.

Wonder how many Tea Party attendees will be attending the Grayson fundraisers. My guess is depressingly high.

Do they know that Grayson was a former Democrat and Clinton-appointee? Do they know that Grayson is allegedly Mitch McConnell's pick?

I bet if they did they wouldn't be supporting him!

Do you think this is information worth passing on via the Summer Volunteers? I'm only hesitant because I'm not sure how they'd take outa staters on that issue.. Whereas simply telling them about Rand is a whole different issue..

Dang it. We need a political strategist that knows Kentucky, as you mentioned in the other thread.

Again, I think if we just simply "paint the State Rand" (that has such an odd sound to it ha ha) I think that's our best bet this early in the game for out of state volunteers.

I would think volunteers would really want to promote Rand Paul's name and policy recognition and be positive. Many Republicans in the South were recent democrats mainly because of the Civil War. We saw the south became more and more Republican as the Democrats no longer represented the values of those people. Now when the only way to political office people had was as a Republican we saw many Democratic operatives change to Republican. It may alienate a lot of Republicans who were former Democrats that changed parties for good reason. I think the better way to go is to attack based on the Grayson's policies and record. As Attorney General he will have high name recognition without much of a know record on policy and issues.

Now if you want to go negative against Grayson you attack him as part of an organization that is not affiliated with Rand Paul. Example would be if he is proabortion you attack with ads from a prolife organization or shell company. So basically volunteers could do this but I wouldn't do it the same time you are going door to door supporting Rand Paul. A lot of dumb people hate negative campaigns and will vote against someone based solely this. On the other hand negative campaign are very effective. So the best thing is to have a negative campaign that doesn't tie back to a candidate.

we need to dig the dirt on this candidate going back to the early 90's. I bet there's a picture of him with his hero or statements that will be damaging if he was a naive liberal
