Um, er . . . I don't know how to break this to you, but Americans FEAST on such details. Every aspect of your background will be gone over with a split-end splitting comb.
You wanna run for office in this country, these be your choices:
1.) Your past and present are open books -- not to say not checkered, not to say not R-rated, OPEN.
OR
2.) You take a hard none-of-your-business line.
You wanna put your name on a ballot, your name isn't one of the things you can keep private. Nor will your name appear in single quotes, with an alter-ego and explanation.
My understanding was that, if you run, you wouldn't be so much running as stepping up to the plate, yes? The Reluctant Leader.
I sense that it is too early for Reluctant Leaders to be announcing candidacies. NOW is the time for full-court press provocation, I quite agree. Let us poke at hornet nests and upset apple carts and impose economic sanctions and pull no punches and cut no quarter.
If not now, WHEN?
If we will roll up our sleeves and do what needs to be done (which includes extra-ordinary belt-tightening all around, don't let anyone tell you different), worthy representatives and trusted leaders will manifest, like phoenixes rising from the ashes -- you, perhaps, among them. As it was evident to freshly independent Americans who their representatives and leaders should be, so it would be for us.
Because it meant you were IN with your girlfriend's Mom, or because it is a variant of Moses ... WHAT did you like about having your name changed AGAIN, by someone ELSE?
Would your given name or your "adoptive" name -- y'know, your OTHER given name -- appear on the ballot?
