This whole Notre Dame affair has shown that the religious establishment has finally gotten over the radical ideas, such as associating with sinners and loving your enemies, that Jesus of Nazareth introduced years ago. Now they can get back to the business of condemning people in the name of God like they did for thousands of year.

So, for decades, the Catholic church lets priests molest young boys, and does everything it can to cover it up and prevent the priests from being prosecuted.

But Catholics fly into a foaming rage because a Catholic University is going to give a useless honorary degree to a guy who supports abortion rights?

IMHO, the two issues both would seem to indicate that the Catholics don't seem to feel that the Church is doing its job very well.
