FRANKFORT, KY (AP) - U.S. Sen. Jim Bunning says he doesn't expect any major Republican opposition in next year's primary election.

Bunning told reporters in a conference call Tuesday morning that fundraising has been going well in the second quarter, though he declined to say how much money he has raised.

The 77-year-old baseball Hall of Famer said the totals would be in the next campaign finance report he files with the Federal Election Commission in July.

Several Republicans have expressed interest in Bunning's seat, including Secretary of State Trey Grayson and Bowling Green physician Rand Paul. However, Grayson and Paul have said they don't plan to run unless Bunning were to drop out of the race. Bunning said again Tuesday he intends to stay in.
