Default starting a YAL chapter and I want YOUR advice!!!!

ok, me and 3 friends have set out to start a YAL chapter at Missouri State University. We also have an investigational meeting setup for early next month, we know te fundamental requirments and goals

    HOWEVER

I would like your help in shaping the BEST and most productve YAL chapter possible

this is very open ended and I want your advice on many topics

please, even if you dont have special skills in a paticular field share your thoughts on some of these subjects.....

What is the best way to recruit Young People on a college campus?

How inclusive VS exclusive should we be?
I.E. should i try to form "coalitions" and invite libs/neocons/libertarians/3rd party people to organize BASED on paticular issues, or should we be exclusive and only accept paleocons and libertarians?

How in the world do i raise funds?

What Goals should we set? education, congressional campaining?

How do we try to include minority groups?
This is a big problem with my local "college Republicans" they are the eclusive NEOCON party, I want to get all types of people.

and lastly, do any of you have any good marketing techniques that can be applied to recruiting?

Thank you, and KNOW that your answers will contribute to spreading liberty.

Do it man, in a year we can split costs and try to organize a massive Rally somewhere and get a big name speaker.

if youre interested go to some oltical events/meetings and find some RPR's and start organizing and gauge their interest in the idea.

    Keg Party

    Tabling might work...

    Promote or Protest something visibly

I'd say as non-exclusive as possible (without inviting trouble). Our ideas win on their own merits, over time.

How in the world do i raise funds?

Bake Sales, Silent Auctions, Car Washes, Raffles...

What Goals should we set? education, congressional campaining?

Depends on how YAL is set up, mainly education though; individuals of the group can campaign separately together

How do we try to include minority groups?

Don't try, treat everyone as the humans they are.

This is a big problem with my local "college Republicans" they are the eclusive NEOCON party, I want to get all types of people.

    We are a big tent.

There is a theory that people need to see/hear something 7 times before they "hear/see" it. Patience and perseverance

Don't let others get you down. Not naysayers, not pretenders, not appeasers, not opportunists; none of em.

What others do pales beside what YOU do.

Press on! - The r3VOLution continues...

"Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence.Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'press on' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race."

im still on the fence about her. she doesnt really give he ropinion often
    HOWEVER
she did devote a whole day to the concept of libertarianism and Milton Friedman, so she could possibly be a paleocon. Ill be sure to ask her stance on certain issues before the end of the class

Hayek and the "Road to Serfdom" is generally a good segway from the watered down libertarianism of Friedman and the monetarists to the real Austrian stuff. Or ask her if she was in Branson last year for the RP rally before the Missouri convention.

Steal our ideas. Our plan is to be the largest, most active YAL chapter in the country. Compete with us, copy our ideas, try and be bigger It's all for good!

    http://BoulderYAL.org

    Good luck...

Oh, and PM me your number and I'll call you and share some ideas with you if you like.
