I'm wanting to know more about the strange creatures known and central banks. What different kinds are there(fiat, asset backing)? How did they spread to so many civilized countries? I think we kicked one out early in our history, have others, and how? What countries do not have one?

Singapore has a currency board.
Andora and Monaco use the Euro. That would put them under the European Central Bank. Panama doe not have a central bank but uses the US dollar for their currency. http://mises.org/story/2533

Yeah, please find me a list of countries, I want to give up my security of knowing the money is used nationwide for the sake of freedom so when somebody gives me a note or gold I never seen, I just have to trust it's real (and if it's not, I can't complain).
Central banks make fraud and counterfeit SO hard for people to get away with.
