Where to Go - If you decided to move to a different state, where would you go?

What state would you move to, and why?

    Here's what I would like:

    Gun friendly state
    Land for farming and hunting
I'd like to avoid extreme weather conditions, especially in the winter. Though this isn't an absolute necessity.

Convergence will be accompanied by blood baths and political re-education camps in Western Europe and the United States. Do you have children or intend on having any? You will want to consider states that support homeschooling.

    Go Forward With Courage

    When you are in doubt, be still, and wait;
when doubt no longer exists for you, then go forward with courage.
    So long as mists envelop you, be still;
be still until the sunlight pours through and dispels the mists
    -- as it surely will.
    Then act with courage.

    What do you consider extreme?
As far as I know every place has weather, and at times extreme weather.
Liberty is lost through complacency and a subservient mindset. When we accept or even welcome automobile checkpoints, random searches, mandatory identification cards, and paramilitary police in our streets, we have lost a vital part of our American heritage. America was born of protest, revolution, and mistrust of government. Subservient societies neither maintain nor deserve freedom for long.

    Moostraks,

    Yes, homeschooling is vital.

    pcosmar,

By "extreme", I mean Alaska winter-type extreme. -40 below is bad.

    Ah, Extreme cold.
We have sub zero weather here, But then many would consider 90F to 100F degrees extreme.
Also through the Midwest there are common Tornadoes. Now those are extreme.
living in the Florida Keys, we had hurricanes. Some might find 120 mph wind extreme.

Not trying to be difficult, just trying to narrow it down.

Ok, here's what I'm looking for:

    1) I'd like to avoid intense cold, such as the -20/-40 below zero. If that kind of cold occurs on a few days out of the year, I can deal with that.

    2) Hurricanes and tornadoes can be dealt with; not overly concerned with them.

    3) I'd like to avoid hot (100+ degrees), humid summers. If it's dry and hot, that can be dealt with.

Also, the main jist of the thread was where would you move to, and why.

If I ever left Texas, I would go to Montana.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. I'll probably be moving to New Hampshire (for obvious reasons?) if I'm rejected by the employer I'm seeking when I have the required skills.

I don't think I would leave Texas. If I had to, I would probably go abroad. If I had to stay in the US, it would be Montana, NH, or VT.

Out of every one hundred men they send us, ten should not even be here. Eighty will do nothing but serve as targets for the enemy. Nine are real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, upon them depends our success in battle. But one, ah the one, he is a real warrior, and he will bring the others back from battle alive.

Montana and Wyoming are very similar ideologically, although Wyoming has a bit more of an entrenched GOP establishment to contend with. My 'move to a different state if I had to' plan, is to live in Wyoming (with no income tax) on the border with Montana (with no sales tax)

BOTH states are liable to bolt the union if guns are outlawed.

Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... I'm moving to the suburbs of Tulsa, Oklahoma in a little over a year. Very conservative state, lots of homeschoolers, good economy, lots of farmland. Tulsa could get dangerous, but like I said, I'm going to stay in the burbs.

You need to have 3 plans in that case - (1) What to do if it happens today (2) What is the desired permanent survival plan (3) the plan for how Plan 1 becomes Plan 2.

In the North East I would move to rural PA, low Sales tax and cheap property and insurance. If out West maybe Montana or Nebraska. And for the South maybe Georgia or Tennessee.

    Weather/Climate for me isn't a problem.

Arizona has medical MJ, easy gun laws, and not much winter except in the mountains. Unfortunately, we don't have much water and that makes farming a challenge.

    Ron Paul's district in Texas.
    Second choice, Montana.
I think the free state project made a miscalculation on New Jersey. The campaign nomination results were shocking to say the least.

This is assuming this move is not for survival.

    Western Montana.

West Montana has more mild winters than east, because the mountains tend to hold the cold to the east. West Montana is also cooler in the summer.

There's plenty of mountains to play (or hide) in.
    Lots of farmland.
    Good liberty loving people.
Easy access to Canada if things get REALLY bad. (ie it's no longer safe even to hide in the mountains)
Lots of minerals and metals to mine.

Yeah, I've been kind of eyeing western Montana, too.
