How accurate are futures of the daily market?

So futures are up today? How accurate are they as far as predicting the stock market? What's their historical significance? I see a little bounce today but down a lot by Friday.

when the markets are in a volatile state, they do not mean a thing. i remember one time the futures were down 400 points, and the stock market rallied on news. i would not trust them at all. i would go with my gut instinct.

They are pretty accurate, but only at predicting what the market opens at. Shortly after that, anything can happen.

Commodities are rigged--I still trade them. Just be a flea on a dog and skim money when they make it move--great money/fun!
"Masterful and arrogant wealth, created largely by Government protection of its profits, not content with its domination and influence within a single party, had sought to corrupt them both, and to that end had insinuated itself into the primaries, in order that no candidates might be nominated whose views were not in accord with theirs." (‘Colonel’ Edward Mandell House in 'Philip Dru: Administrator', circa 1912)
