When a ex KGB agent says you're being too collectivist, that should tell you something. Wouldn't it just be a shitload of irony if we have another cold war with Russia as the capitlist superpower against the socialist USA.

While there may be truth to what Putin says, you have to look at his real motives.

He wants the USA to spend less on its military. He is being entirely self serving.

No reason to worry about a Russian Capitalist superpower anytime either- Russia is an economic basket case- its economy was propped up by high oil prices. When oil prices crashed, the Russian economy essentially disappeared.

I don't have to tell you that Putin is hardly a capitalist- if he doesn't like you, he'll essentially nationalize your business (as he did with Lukos- and he sent the CEO, Russia's richest man, to Siberia). Russia, unfortunately, is looking more and more like a dictatorship every day.

Putin says some wise words, but what are his motives and what is he NOT telling us.

He sure isn't telling us how wonderful a dictator he would be or how he enjoys killing renagade journalist.

This is not the first time. He told Bush the same thing to his face in a conference not too long ago.
"It is our true policy to steer clear of entangling alliances with any portion of the foreign world. "
    George Washington

"Since the general civilization of mankind, I believe there are more instances of the abridgment of freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations"
    James Madison

For the record I was joking. Obviously I know Putin's no friend of capitalism or liberty.
