As a former employee of Chrysler, We made some damn good products. Personally, GM and Chrysler are 2 different companies, Chrysler made good products that made money. I would, once again, bring up CAFE standards, the govt. imposes as 1 of the reasons why vehicles aren't as profitable. I love my 2 Jeeps and other than the age, they have been trouble-free. The company just hasn't been the same since Bob Eaton sold us out to the Germans. Nardelli doesn't have a clue
OK, you guys can continue your bashing!
So what do my fellow Ron Paul supporters drive? Are there any auto companies we can support with our business or are they all being subsidized one way or another?

Wait!? You mean that worker unions had no fault at the downfall of
American auto corporations? ...... amazing ....!
fools support things out of "patriotism". True patriots should
allow free markets work and decide which companies go under
and which thrive. Although our freaking socialist/communist
"establishment" has pretty much guaranteed that these sh!tty
companies stay in business a wee bit longer. so they can fail
more and be bailed out yet again...
I got freaking assaulted at christmas by a bunch of family members that support the canadian auto baliout.
Canadians have no idea how socialist we really are. Many of these people call themselves "conservatives"
"One of the great victories of the state, is that the word "Anarchy" terrifies people but, the word "State" does not" - Tom Woods
I'm not supporting anything out of "patriotism". All other things being equal, I'd prefer to support businesses that aren't sucking off the government teat. But aren't they all to some extent or another? Even the foreign manufacturers who are getting breaks to build factories here? So since most of us have to drive, who do you buy from?

I oppose the auto bailouts, but I will say I'm quite fond of Chrysler Sebring convertibles. I bought my second (used) last month. Here's a tip - the price of convertibles plummets in the winter and the Kelley Blue Book value does not apply either to buying or selling during the cold season (if you know somebody who works at a dealer, ask them to check the Black Book value for you if you're looking to buy a convertible in the winter). It's actually pretty absurd as convertibles can and do get used year round - if it's cold outside, just turn on the heater and don't open the damn top! If anything can be used to demonstrate the irrationality of consumers, it's this (but the rational ones like me snap them up at discount prices).
Investing?
When will I be receiving my stock certificates and dividend checks?

I don't like that they did that but i will still be buying an American car even though i don't agree with them being bailed out.
No more IRS.
I am now old enough to vote.
This is expected because the company is acting in its own self interest and not the interest of the taxpayers.
The full blame here goes on the government because they passed the bailout even when the people opposed it + did not follow the constitution. That's where the anger should be directed in my opinion.
I drive a Ford and it's a damn good car and fun to drive (mainly because it has manual shift gear). So I would buy another ford, but I was also thinking about going with something like AUDI in the future because it's severely underrated in US without much brand strenght - therefore cheaper than BMW or Mercedes...
In spite of the bail outs, there is one of these down at the local Dodge dealer.
Stripped, 6 speed manual trans, big block hemi.
They may be getting a bunch of my money...

By far the worst car I ever owned was a '96 Jeep Grand Cherokee. In one year I put a new transmission, new rear end, new computer for the engine and then sold it for half what I paid for it a year earlier just to get rid of the damn thing. Never again would I buy a Chrystler POS. Being Patriotic does not mean being Idiotic. Buy a Japanese car and save yourself a headache (and some money.)
Too funny. Is anyone else getting the "Jeep Parts" ad banner at the bottom of this page? I can't get the banner to post, but it is a link to Jeep replacement parts. You can't make this stuff up.

Humm.. I have a '96 Jeep Cherokee... not the grand one, and it has never given me a bit of trouble. The only problem I have had was a broken door handle and the dealership says it can't find the part to replace it. I went on the internet and within 15 minutes, had one ordered from a web site. (I have to wonder why the dealership couldn't do that and just add around $5 over what they paid for the part + shipping and had the part for me. I have been waiting for the dealership to get the part for almost 6 months now.)
i have a jeep cherokee. suprisingly these vehicles can last a very long time (although the plastic $#@! breaks quickly). the 4.0L six was designed by some engineer that worked on the F1 engines; the t-case's were made by new process (new venture) and the axles were mostly dana (with some chrysler 8.25"). the transmissions were/are the weak link in them, like most chrsyler products.
i also had a 96 grand cheorkee but it was decent. the quadra-drive full time 4x4 was a big downside cause you could never switch to 2-wheel. lots of wear and tear on the u-joints up front.
the wrangler's aren't too bad either.
