WARNING: click here at risk of your blood pressure

I stumbled upon this site and wanted to share it with y'all so we can discuss what can be done about people like this. I read a bit of this site and nearly crapped my political pants. It's the most unmitigated crap I have ever seen on a single site, enjoy.

    http://governmentisgood.com/index.php

and no, as horrifying as it is, the title is NOT the worst part.

People like to feel "looked after." Usually because they don't have the maturity to take responsibility for themselves. Infantile thinking isn't worth the toilet paper.

Okay, that is pure crap. I read the front page and that was enough.

At first they were getting me.." The news media only covers what is bad"..okay, yeah, I agree..

The, they said this: "The right is always saying that there needs to be less government, we should cut taxes"..okay, really? Man, let me tell you, that is some horrible stuff there....

Then, they went on to say how the government was like this never failing institution that we should love and want more off. ugh.

I didn't get high blood pressure though...it was crap, and it was silly, but that is opinion, and we all know what those are like.

How ironic would it be if someone came here and posted there saying exactly what you did, and linking this site. lol. " they want to do what they want\!" "The constitution?!" "Founding fathers!" "ahhhhh!"
    >Fights begin, finger prints are took, days is lost, bail is made, court dates are ignored, cycle is repeated.

Fortunately, we have 4 years of the Obama Administration to reason people out of this line of thought...

my faaaavorite part on the front page:

In fact, democratic government is one of the greatest institutional inventions of modern Western civilization. It allows us to pool our resources and to act collectively to address the serious social, economic, and environmental problems that we are unable to deal with as individuals. The public sector is also how we provide for essential human needs that are neglected by the market – such as a clean air and water, safe workplaces, and economic security. What’s more, government serves as an essential instrument of moral action – a way for us to rectify injustices, eliminate suffering, and care for each other. In short, democratic government is one of the main ways we work together to pursue the common good and make the world a better place.

Without government we'd be breathing toxic fumes all day while drinking tainted water (fluoride and trace pharmaceuticals are ok) and eating disease laden, poisoned food (FDA just said mercury and melanine are ok for babies and pregnant women).

Hell, thank government that you can live in a house at all. "Ownership" is only possible because the government allows you to "own" things. But then the government gives you FREE money. It's a mortgage interest tax deduction. When they reduce your taxes, that's like the government GIVING you FREE money! Wow. Can't complain about government now, can you?

Man. It's so sad that this is NOT a spoof.

Today, this more positive – and more realistic – view of government is beginning to gain more traction among the public. For one thing, the mortgage system collapse and the ensuing deep financial crisis have given most Americans a renewed appreciation of the importance of government and the vital roles it plays in our society. If not for vigorous government rescue efforts, we would probably be slipping into an economic depression – with no end in sight.

Thanks goodness for those bailouts! It saved us all!! We've been rescued!!

6:38 a.m. You go into the kitchen for breakfast. You pour some water into your coffeemaker. You simply take for granted that this water is safe to drink. But in fact you count on your city water department to constantly monitor the quality of your water and to immediately take measures to correct any potential problems with this vital resource.

And this from "Gov Forgotten achievments

Regulation of the Business Cycle. Until the recent deep financial crisis, we have tended to forget how dependent we are on the federal government to prevent economic depressions. Since the 1930s, the government has used a variety of monetary and fiscal policies to limit the natural boom and bust cycles of the economy. Before government took on this responsibility, severe depressions were a routine and recurring problem in this country – occurring in 1819, 1837, 1857, 1873, 1893, 1907 and 1929. Thanks to government intervention, we have been able to avoid the enormous amount of human suffering caused by these economic meltdowns – the massive joblessness, the destitution, the rampant hunger, the disease, the riots, the hopelessness and the despair. By any measure, eliminating these depressions and this misery has been one of the greatest – and often unheralded – achievements of our federal government.
