What are the chances that Obama will use an Exec. Order to ban foreign ammo imports?

I'm mainly concerned about 7.62x39, the food of choice for hungry AK-47's.

AFAIK, Remington is the only domestic manufacturer of this caliber, even though no one buys it because it's about 3x the price of Wolf ammo.

Can he, and will he do this on day one? From my understanding it wouldn't be difficult to do.

He would need an Act of Congress before they would have the force of law outside of the Executive Branch.

Executive orders aren't exactly laws themselves, but they clarify "ambiguities" in existing law. If we already banned certain ammo then I think an executive order could ban 7.62x39.

I view it as a virtual certainty. Chinese steel core 7.62 has already been banned under executive order as that was "armor piercing" ammunition that could be used in some AK pistol Century built. Regular 7.62x39 out of the same pistol will also penetrate a vest, so it too is "armor-piercing". Imported 5.56 will also go away as there are AR pistols.

I would say it is a virtual certainty. He might be sly and wait till there's a school shooting involving an AK or something, then use that as a jump-off point. He's fairly politically savvy for a "community organizer", and I suspect for that reason he'll wait till a good opportunity presents itself.

Of course, I could be completely mistaken. He could just sign an EO and then just move along. I doubt the media would give it a great deal of coverage in that case.

they would start a war immediately if that ever was tried. I think they know what the American people will do once they get pushed hard enough. It's sad that we take so much of this $#@! BUT I do believe that when the time comes for us to take action or else then we will take action.

Obama already tried to ban all centerfire rifle ammo in Illinois by trying to reclassify it as "armor piercing". He also appointed a gun grabber to head the BATF.

Oh, and a couple of words in his main objectives section scream his true intents: "make all firearms child safe" or "have a child safety device" - this is gun-grabberiese for ban all guns. Such guns do not exist, and it's unlikely they could be manufactured to be child save.

Indeed. The object with this "child safe" scheme is to make the manufacturing of guns so expensive and unaffordable, no one will be able to purchase them except the rich.

Also, look for huge taxation on ammo and guns in the future.
