Interesting. I suppose they're seeing the writing on the wall?
If God himself got off his throne, descended from the heavens, trumpetted at my door, and announced that I was wasting my time trying to get Ron Paul into the Whitehouse, I would thank him for his concern and ask him to leave me to my business. I've wasted lots of time on far less noble causes. ~RockEnds

So have they just converted some reserve Euro's to gold, or is it a full on gold standard?

It's troubling to me that the article doesn't say what they switched FROM.

    Is it dollars or euros?

I'm assuming dollars....It seems at least Iran is listening to Ron Paul.

IIRC, Iran has been toying around with currencies and recently switched to some type of oil-based currency from dollars.

That reminds me of how the US attacked Iraq after they switched from the dollar to the Euro. Here's a good article on it:

    That's an interesting article!

Hmm wow Maybe we'll attack Iran before Obama is inaugurated? Then Obama won't get the blame.

There were a lot of articles about Dr. Paul from Iranian media outlets.

Russian, too. Maybe Russia will switch next.

They are switching from Oil really. Oil is swinging too much to be useful on its own.
    In New Zealand:
    The Coastguard is a Charity
Air Traffic Control is a private company run on user fees
The DMV is a private non-profit
Rescue helicopters and ambulances are operated by charities and are plastered with corporate logos
The agriculture industry has zero subsidies
5% of the national vote, gets you 5 seats in Parliament
A tax return has 4 fields
    Business licenses aren't a thing
    Prostitution is legal
We have a constitutional right to refuse any type of medical care

"If a life could have a theme song -- and I believe every worthwhile one has -- mine is a religion, an obsession or a mania, or all of these expressed in one word: individualism. I was born with that obsession and have never seen and do not know now a cause more worthy, more misunderstood, more seemingly hopeless, and more tragically needed." -Ayn Rand

There is also, no central bank in Iran. I believe it is one of the last countries on the planet that they do not have a bank
