Obama win triggers run on guns

    http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/n...,4425738.story
HOUSTON — A week after the election of Barack Obama, gun buyers across the country are voting with their feet, flocking to gun stores to stock up on assault rifles, handguns and ammunition.
"People are terrified of losing their right to protect themselves," said DeWayne Irwin, owner of Cheaper Than Dirt, a large gun store in Ft. Worth. "The volume is 10 times what we ever expected. It started with assault rifles, but at this point people are buying ammunition, high-capacity magazines, Glocks—it's all flying off the shelf. With the economy the way it is, people are worried about instability. They are scared of civil unrest."
Where can I buy some of these assault rifles like the rest of the flock? I always wanted a selective-fire weapon! Throw me some of them fragmentation grenades while I'm at it Jimbob!

the number of pre-purchase background checks conducted by the FBI—a major barometer of national gun sales—actually rose more slowly through Oct. 31 of this year than during comparable periods in 2007 and 2006.
Seeing as the FBI saves data on the background checks and gives it out to media sources like the Tribune, does that mean that if I buy a gun and get background checked, the FBI also saves the data showing MY NAME being checked? How is that different than a gun registry? I think Obama may find that list mighty useful when he wants to start confiscating handguns or "assault rifles".

That's what Obama wants to make illegal, to "keep guns out of the hands of criminals" and "close the gun-show loophole"

But still, does anyone know if they are now using the NICS system as a registration system? If your name's on there showing you were background-checked, isn't that the same as registering your gun with the feds? They know you have one either way.

    I'm sure they keep track.
Buy a .22 POS, register it.
When they come to take your guns. Give them the .22 POS.
Keep your real arms tucked away.
I buy from private owners, and no law could keep me from buying more.

Ahahaha! I didn't even notice this part before! Oh no! The white people with assault weapons are coming! I didn't know they checked your race when you bought a gun.

One expert sees a darker motive driving some post-election gun purchasers.

"Why are white people buying assault weapons?" said Ben Agger, a sociology professor at the University of Texas at Arlington who wrote a book about the Virginia Tech slayings. "I almost hate to say it, but there is a deep-seated fear of the armed black man, because Obama now commands the military and other instruments of the justice system. They are afraid Obama will exact retribution for the very deep-seated legacy of slavery."

The law says NICS records are supposed to be deleted within 72 hours.

If you believe that to be the case, I have some bridges to sell you.

Just a bunch of rednecks clinging to their religion and guns.

I can see banning the good stuff in the short run, but I don't see them doing door to door confiscations in the near future. They'll try other ways to get people to give up/register their guns. They could do a national buy-back program, where they'll give you $500 for handguns and $1000 for "assault rifles". They'll move into gun registrations, starting with the big scary ones first, just to make sure the criminals don't get them, you understand. They'll try numerous ways to get us to give them up peacefully before they start running door to door.

But even they know that's what it'll come down to... door-to-door searches and seizures. I could be completely off the mark here. Who knows, maybe a big "terr'st event" will give them all the political ammo they need to steal our firearms.

I don't know about y'all, but I've already sold all my big scary weapons. I can't register what I don't own anymore.

All those people stocking up on AKs and ARs know what's coming, and I would like to think they're not too eager to play ball with our leash-holders by co-operating with them.

Okay, not like I could afford one, but where the hell are you supposed to be able to buy assault rifles?

You can get them illegally of the street for about $100 for an AK.
The more legit the location, the more expensive it is... which is really backwards... but i'm not complaining.

I spoke to an arms importer on Thursday. They said that since the election (on Tuesday) they were completely out of inventory. Apparently there has been a recent run on guns

Wasn't the Virginia Tech "slayer" a Korean kid who was hooked on addictive, mood-altering, prescription meds?

It appears as though our sociology professor needs to add Asians and Pharmaceutical manufacturers to his (new) list of those who are actually "pulling the trigger" in a manner which adversely affects an otherwise polite and peaceful society of white gun owners.

Ahh, the collectivist "race card" trick. Lots more where that came from.
