Will Cindy McCain's drug addiction and community service be a problem for McCain ?

"John McCain, has admitted that his wife not only illegally used drugs but walked away from criminal charges."

It's been said and accepted that we leave the women and the children out of it. It's an old code of honor, we leave opposition's family out of it.

To clarify, our values are children come number one. Always, all of them all the time. We don't attack kids. To this end we don't attack wives or mothers because kids need their momma. It's a simple question of the order of priorities.

Hypocracy thy name is drug war.

Don't worry, I'm sure Obama - a self-admitted former marijuana/cocaine user - will work to repeal these laws. After all, he wouldn't have the "audacity" to send people to jail for something he did, would he?

By the way, Bill Clinton claims he never "inhaled" so therefore it's OK that over 750,000 people were arrested for marijuana possesion alone during each year of his presidency.

Well, it seems that the right wingers spent weeks pounding Michelle Obama because she said "I finally feel proud to be an American"- or words to that effect.

People haven't brought up Cindy McCain's drug abuse, or the fact that she stole drugs from a charity, or the fact that Senator McCain made sure it was swept under the rug.

Obama is winning and doesn't feel the need to take the cheap shots that McCain and Palin have resorted to.

Why a double standard for the McCains -
why not let the voters decide if it's ok for a potential (ok, impossible ) First Lady Cindy McCain
to steal to get Percocet and Vicodin, and ended up doing community service.

I unequivocally reject the notion that wives/mates shall be off limits.

Aside from how LUCRATIVE their antics are, and aside from how above the law they are, the other reason that Bad Guys get away with running roughshod over people is because, at the end of the day, they withdraw behind their high security fences into the well-toned world of the Rich & Infamous.

The very lowest sorts of characters...and the spouses behind the thrones...are kow-towed to wherever they go.

It is the very insulation and seclusion that you would afford them that ultimately permits them to do what they do.

    Yes and no.

I sense that Cindy McCain's former drug addiction is an engraved invitation to bring the decriminalization of marijuana (and hemp, obviously) to the forefront. On the off chance that the "maverick" Republican senator does assume the throne, with the Trophy Wife heiress to a mega-million-dollar Budweiser distributorship by his side, it shall constitute more of an opportunity to correct this bit of illogic and revenue loss. Ironically, I think the Republican party will be quicker to decriminalize marijuana and hemp, on the basis of economics, than the Democratic party will be to do it on the basis of justice.
