Communist Revolution in US?

It seems as if every single Democrat I speak to is a literal self proclaimed Socialist. "So, you support Obama?" "Yup." "So then you believe in and support Socialism? You do realize that it has never worked in the past?" "Well, um... *stutter and mumble* I think we need some socialism in this country... Socialism isn't too bad, you know..." "You do realize that Socialism would be completely unconstitutional, and as such illegal?" "Well, um... I... *stutter and mumble* think we need to change the constitution, then... Sometimes rules need to be bent for the better of society."

I don't get it. Are we a nation of Americans who actually stand for the principles on which this country was founded upon? Or are we a bunch of Communist Fascists running around aimlessly trying to finish what Karl Marx began? Someone please explain to me how someone like Obama can even be running when everything he supports is UNCONSTITUTIONAL? I don't understand this. He wants to do all of these things - McCain too, yet they're all unconstitutional. Why aren't there court hearings going on? Why aren't these people being charged with treason against our Constitution? How is it that Socialism has actually come to the US? Democrats are self proclaimed Socialists. I don't get this. We went to war over Communism. People have died trying to stop it - even though we shouldn't have gotten involved obviously, but nonetheless... We went on wild witch hunts trying to prosecute Communist supporters in the 50's. And now we have become what we have most feared. What we vowed we would never become. How is it that we're finally getting a Communist Revolution in this country? It took sixty years or so. And now this country is going to fall to Socialism.

So I end this topic with this one question. Is the American public stupid?

the overwhelming majority of people have more than the average number of legs. what you're thinking of is the median. i don't care if you're an austrian economist and don't believe in numbers, you should still understand this sort of thing.

People want "free stuff". Especially in a society like ours which is so consumer driven. I have a feeling that most us on this board aren't that materialistic, comparitively speaking. Just a guess.

So...who ever promises the most free stuff, gov't perks....gets the most votes.

I think they're that stupid. Some of them even turn to the "soft socialism" that is McCain style fascism.

People are easily manipulated when they're scared. And for the last ten years, the government has been preaching fear to the populace, in the hope that they can get one over on people.

Also, the same people have forgotten that government is meant to work for YOU, and not the only way around. The office of the President has become imperial, and many people put it on a pedestal; when in fact, the President is the highest ranking civil servant and representative of the People.

I also don't see a SINGLE man or woman in the US military, FBI or National Guard mutely complying to a shift to Socialism or Communism - which would take a gross suspension or major change of the Constitution.
