Thread: Think it through

    Default Think it through

GEORGE BUSH HAS NOT BEEN RIGHT ONCE
CONGRESS HAS THE NEXT WORST RECORD
    PAULSON/BERNANKE DID NOT FORESEE IT
THEY CLEARLY DON'T CARE ABOUT PEOPLE

But suddenly, hurriedly, we will trust them to pass the most expensive and open-ended piece of legislation in history? We would have to be insane, or chickenshit.

They've been telling us, "who could have possible seen this coming?" ever since 911. And, each time, many had foreseen the possibilities.

I myself can produce a dozen people, accomplished in relevant fields, who ALL saw it coming.

Yesterday I spoke with a woman who works in residential real estate in the tony Bay Area of San Francisco.

She spoke of a deal wherein a Latino gardener put $2000 down on a $605,000 home. Washington Mutual wrote the paper which they were in the habit of doing, she said, for an 8 to 10 thousand dollar fee. Payable up front, of course.

What if the gardener broke his arm, she wondered. She'd never seen anything like it, and then she was seeing it all the time. Her husband, an investment banker...this was already YEARS ago...said that when those variable rates kicked in, there'd be hell to pay.

Henry Paulson and Ben Bernanke are NOTED for their Smarts. These are the Whiz Oldsters. Of COURSE they saw it coming. It just came a little sooner than would have best served their purposes.

Imagine this exact Crisis...which seems to me to be as handled as a celebrity...falling directly upon the heels of the next president's assumption of office. One-term presidency, right from the gate.

Either candidate, it didn't matter. If it would be Obama (or Clinton), there'd have been a wiping of hands on that Black (or Woman) in office fad. "We tried THAT, thank you very much." If it would be McCain, they would sacrifice him again as not a "true" Republican.

Either way, Bad Guys would point to the dire need and whip up the ignorant masses for eight more years of "conservative" Republicanism. Or sixteen.

I'm sensing that this could be the issue that kick starts a revolution. People of all political persuasions are pissed off, and making their voices heard. This, combined with the high possibility of bailouts being passed in spite of them, could get the ball rolling against the government.

They have to be feeling it too. I wonder what they will do.
