On September 17, the U.S. House of Representatives Judiciary Committee was scheduled to consider and mark up three immigration bills. It appears that the Democratic majority wants to act on immigration legislation before Congress breaks for election campaigning.

Consideration of the first two bills was deferred, but the third bill, H.R 6020, which includes "expedited immigration proceedings for servicemembers," was reported favorably to the full House for a vote.

This is BS. You have to be a citizen or lawful resident to enlist.

This isn't amnesty for illegals.

Unless you can show me where Rumsfeld or Bob Gates authorized the enlistment of illegals.

The military has long had a policy of expediting citizenship to foreigners serving in the US military.

The "illegal" thing is new, though.

Well, most Americans don't want to serve in the idiotic Bush/McCain wars, so I guess we'll have to dangle the carrot in front of desperate immigrants.

As someone else said, if the American people supported these wars, you'd have no problem getting enough volunteers here in the USA.

Americans will gladly fight for their country, but they don't want to fight in pointless wars like Iraq.
