Yep- I was down by the Sea Wall a few hours ago. Lots of TV crew and surfers.

The Home Depot parking lot has about 50 ambulance lined up ready for action.

Anyway, I live in Spring (just North of Houston).

Sheila Jackson and another Congressman (can't remember his name) are currently conferring with Houston Mayor Bill White.

I just found it odd there was no mention of RP, or that he hasn't commented on the situation, since Galveston, along with the rest of District 14, is certain to take a pounding from Hell.

Basically, what I'm wondering is if the media is trying to marginalize RP, to take away any chance he has of becoming the "Giuliani"' of Ike (and yes, I know Ghoul wasn't a hero on, after, or before 9/11).

If people want to take risks, let them, but don't come whining afterwards. It's like people climbing K2 or whatever. I don't see the point, but it's none of my business, as long as they don't ask for state handouts if something goes wrong, like taking a fall and getting disabled.
