NO. And that is precisely why the militarization of police is such a bad thing. And by militarization, I don't just mean weapons, gear, and tactics. I mean hiring preferences. Police are supposed to be citizens and behave like citizens, not military.
Being that so many police these days were hired because they were former military, their main job is following orders. No offense to the vets out there, but my personal feeling is that military service should disqualify one from being a civilian law enforcement officer.
