Strong performances at the Ames Straw poll by Mike Huckabee, Sam Brownback, Ron Paul, and Tom Tancredo has done little to thwart Mitt Romney's lead in Iowa.

The latest Strategic Vision poll in Iowa has the former Governor of Massachusetts with 31%. Mike Huckabee is at 8% and Ron Paul is still hovering around the margin of error, 3%.

The last Strategic Vision Iowa poll taken approximately two month ago had Mitt Romney only at 23%. Two months ago, the polls included Tommy Thompson and he had 6% in that poll.

According to USAElectionPolls.com, he is gaining in Iowa because of the departure of Tommy Thompson and drops in the polls by Rudy Giuliani and John McCain. Mitt Romney is a formidable force in Iowa they claim.
