Might be a bad idea if they posted the donation totals because some people might say "wow hes got a bunch of money, maybe I dont need to worry so much!!!!!!!" and they might give less thinking that others are are footing the bill just fine without their help. Best to let people wonder and donate what they donate without any numbers dictating their opinion on how much to give.

2 hours-Is there something I am missing?
They did promise daily totals for the meetup groups, which I think would be motivation to keep one's group in the running, but they aren't there yet.
We will win this...
Meetup totals were probably all very small so far---watch for a surge due to his birthday.
