NATO fighters accompany Russian bombers near Alaska VIDEO

Bush and Co. and other neo-cons should think hard before moving NATO troops next to Russia's borders....

    26/ 03/ 2008

MOSCOW, March 26 (RIA Novosti) -- NATO fighters accompanied Russian Tu-95 Bear strategic bombers on a regular strategic patrol flight on Wednesday, a Russian Air Force spokesman said.
Two Bear bombers and two Il-78 aerial tankers conducted a 16-hour patrol mission on Wednesday over the Arctic and the Pacific Ocean and performed aerial refueling.
"During the flight over neutral waters near Alaska, the Russian planes were accompanied by NATO fighters," Colonel Alexander Drobyshevsky said.
Interceptions of Russian combat aircraft by NATO fighters have been a common occurrence since Russia resumed strategic bomber patrol flights over the Pacific, Atlantic, and Arctic oceans last August, following an order signed by President Vladimir Putin.
Drobyshevsky reiterated on Wednesday that regular patrols of Russian strategic bombers do not pose a threat to other countries, and Russia always issues prior warnings of their patrols.
He said that the main purpose of these missions was to train pilots in instrument flight and aerial refueling.

Wow, that Bear aircraft looks like something from the 50s.

I was thinking the same thing. Old looking.

That plane is fine for a 700 pound telescope.

Thermo-satellite imaging; I think, not Bombing Runs.

They are looking at vast amounts of crude oil and natural gas deposits.

Do you want to see good looking bombers, Dr.3D?

    Guv, that..not scary

    but that:
China's H-8 stealth bomber may be more advanced than the American B-2A and capable of delivering a 350-kiloton nuclear warhead to the continental U.S., or it could be a mock-up of the A-12 "Flying Dorito."

Those are just two of the rumors accompanying a video trumpeting some recent triumphs of Chinese aviation. Although it's "top secret," Chinese quasi-official Web sites brag that the Xian H-8 is a carbon-fiber, "special nanotechnology"-coated, stealth, strategic, heavy bomber all rolled into one.

What we know for sure is that it has a range of 11,000 kilometers, without refueling, but it could refuel if it wanted to--possibly. In any case, it has extra-large fuel tanks. It has a crew of two and travels at Mach 1.2, or maybe 1.4. It carries an 18-ton bomb payload and/or 12 new Stealth cruise missiles with a range of 3,000 kilometers. And three nuclear missiles, at least.

Not really. That is an American F15, one of the few jets that have the speed and endurance to intercept and escort the russian flights. NATO is just an alliance that asks for help from member nations in various roles.

The Chinese have something more advanced than the B2? Not likely, just more bluster from a nation that has a fighter that is about as advanced as our old F4 Phantoms. What the Chinese would hope is for an invasion, as they have the populace to throw at our bullets, but in a long range shooting match, even the Chinese know they are woefully behind.
