At my local store:
2 years ago: $.89 cents
Last year: $1.19
Today: $1.69
What's the price change in terms of gold or silver?
Price of bread and wheat products is something to keep an eye on. A few stores are reporting the prices of bread over $5 a loaf. But this is more an issue of wheat shortage and not so much inflation.
Never heard mushrooms to have a shortage.

2007: 53.23 mgAu (+16.0%), 2766 mgAg (+15.3%)
2008: 58.15 mgAu (+9.2%), 3152 mgAg (+14.0%)

So gold is undervalued based on the Cream of Mushroom Soup Index (COMSI)
Perhaps the COMSI is a leading indicator.
Here is a little data I have kept track of.
Price per ounce at close of NY exchange:
September 06, 2007 Gold $688.15 Silver $12.24
February 28, 2008 Gold $969.50 Silver $19.75
Percent Change Gold +41% Silver +61%
