Concerning bases overseas - can someone answer this?

I've been trying to find verification of the over 700 bases in over 125 different countries.

I can verify the over 700 bases from government sources:
    http://www.cbo.gov/ftpdoc.cfm?index=...e=0&sequence=2

but in that report it breaks down the countries and says:
    he U.S. Military's Overseas Infrastructure
Army Navy Air Force Marine\ Corps Total
    Number of Installations 381 44 275 2 702

    Number of Buildingsa 26,100 5,800 9,600 3,400 44,900

    Total Square Footageb (Millions) 204 32 53 12 301

    Total Present Replacement Valuec(Billions of dollars) 46 21 39 6 112

Number of Countries and Foreign Territories with Installations 9 23d 23 1 n.a.

Obviously quite a bit less than 700. Does anyone have any sources for this. I've heard RP say over 700 in over 125 different countries and I'm wondering if this includes CIA installations??

Can anyone help me with the 125 countries statement? I assuming it must include embassies?

Nobody has any sources for this? I have government sources that state a much lower number, unless we were to include the military presence at embassies - there seems to be no possible way we can identify having bases in even over 100 countries. The number seems to be closer to 50-60, which don't get me wrong - that is too much.

I'm just trying to find substantial or reasonable support to Dr Paul's statement that is often echoed by his supporters of over 700 bases in over 125 different countries.

The over 700 bases is pretty easily confirmed. The country count is not.

We do have embassies in 159 different countries - possibly the handful of marines stationed to protect the embassies are being counted as "bases" ????????

    700 military bases

This number comes up in the writings of Chalmers Johnson

    http://www.commondreams.org/views04/0115-08.htm

At this web site you'll find:

"According to the Defense Department's annual "Base Structure Report" for fiscal year 2003, which itemizes foreign and domestic U.S. military real estate, the Pentagon currently owns or rents 702 overseas bases in about 130 countries and HAS another 6,000 bases in the United States and its territories."

Another force breakdown can be found here

The article referred to Baseline report of 2003. I cannot find a source for that, but the Baseline report for 2007 includes 39 countries:

That article you linked me also said we have bases in Pakistan. I'm pretty sure this is untrue, correct me if I'm wrong.

Re bases in Pakistan. A working definition for a base is probably needed. i.e.

"Pakistan had already provided Jacobabad, Pasni and Dalbandin air bases to US marines for forward operational purposes. A large number of US B-52s, C-130s and helicopters are stationed at these bases. In addition, the US has installed an extended electronic and radar system covering most of the regional airspace at Dalbandin. The Dalbandin airport was constructed in the 1980s with the financial assistance of Saudi Arabia, as many royal family members visit this desert town for bird hunting. "

Given the politically sensitive nature of US military presence in Pakistan I would be cautious with publicly available sources.

With regard to RP's foreign policy I see the low hanging fruit being significant troop reductions in Korean, Germany, and Japan as the first step. To gain the next wave of supporters the idealogical needs some practical.
