Okay- there have been a lot of posts about Paul winning 46% in Spokane or Asotin or Stevens county but having 21% of the vote state wide. First, geography 101- Washington is divided by the Cascade mountains- the East side is very much a "Red" state- very rural, a lot of agriculture. Spokane is in Eastern Washington as is Asotin and Stevens county. Those counties also have more of a constitutionalist bent.

The west side of the state is where most of the people in the state reside- in Seattle (King County), Tacoma (Pierce County) and Everett (Snohomish County). Kitsap County and Thurston County also have sizable populations.

About 1/5th to 1/4 of the entire state population resides in King County- there are also many military bases on the West side- There are naval bases in Kitsap and Snohomish counties- 4 or 5 aircraft carriers and numerous subs are based in the area. Fort Lewis, one of the largest army bases in the country, is in Pierce County- there are a couple of Stryker brigades there. McChord Air Force base is also in Pierce County.

So, when you see results from the Eastern side of the state showing Paul getting 40-50% of the vote, it is not a grand conspiracy that he is only getting 21% statewide. The several thousand fine folks in beautiful Asotin County or few thousand in SPokane (Go Zags!!!) who voted for Paul cannot keep up with the 250,000 registered republicans in King County. Please save the conspiracy theories for later.
