No, Alaska isn't winner take all.

What happened was Obama and McCain.

Obama stole a lot of our youth votes, and conservatives voted Romney to beat McCain.

Same thing that happened everywhere as far as I can tell.

Alaskan delegates are pledged for the first TWO rounds of a brokered national convention though, as opposed to the single round that most states are pledged to.

The Alaska of yesterday is no more: years of government largess has resulted in a land of sheeple. Right now we have a governor and legislature that are busy putting everyone on the government dole.

Sorry, but the wonderful Ron Paul people were BY FAR the most active and energetic in the state, but there is an abiding fear and loathing of freedom. It sucks, I know.

We could probably take a good shot at messing with the "statist quo" during some of the February 9 district caucuses, but I am pretty much done fooling around with democracy. I worked my ass off in the Ed Clark campaign and we got 11.6% of the vote. 28 years later I work even harder and we get a few more percent. I am tired and broke and disheartened.

Don't be disheartened. That is progress, slow, but real.

If we can't win in Alaska, there's not a chance in hell we can win anywhere.

Great Job and all RP supporters appreciate your efforts!!!, it is for a good cause and regardless of the outcome you have helped a new generation of people wake up from this media controlled society. Be proud that you actually made a difference, unfortunately us RP supporters are cursed with a brain.

One thing though... We had Ron Paul canvassing, sign waving, car parades, slim jim avalanches, etc. here in the Mat-Su Valley. No other campaign did this. If it wasn't for us, we probably wouldn't have seen anywhere near the interest in the voting that we saw. The number of voters that turned up was 4 or 5 times what was expected. The polling places were more than packed... the fire marshall was going to shut us down until we did some strange antics of going through "holding rooms" while waiting in line to vote.

I feel that our attempt to create a "buzz" for the election totally backfired on us. I even created a giant "RON PAUL" sign out of Christmas lights and had it out on the highway for the 20-30,000 commuters who drive to Anchorage in the dark every morning. Unfortunately, we created a big response but probably didn't bring up the number of Ron Paul supporters significantly. Ron Paul supporters were going to vote anyway.

Good question. Entry polls had him at 26%.

What did he finish with? Not 26%. Not even close.
But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.

Well..be adrift in the sea of despair.. and bet on your chances there. Apathy will reclaim its own. Don't clutter up the forum with such talk. There is much more to win than a presidential election. We can make domestic issues REAL important to the new president. We did it to Kennedy, and we can do it again. The people will not be silenced, now. Go back to your raft so you do not hear it.

We will update on Saturday evening. Be strong! We may need a tiny amount of financial help and there is a FL chip-in in the works on our behalf.

    Accountability in Alaska

Greetings to all posters here. For the past 6 months or so I've been an occasional visitor to these forums, but just joined now in order that I may obtain a clearer answer to the question posed in this thread, "What happened in Alaska?"

There is growing evidence that the national campaign has hired individuals whose egregious level of incompetence both alienates the hard-working volunteers and diminishes their efforts to the point where a Ron Paul victory becomes a virtual impossibility. There exists a growing body of first-hand testimony which implies that we may be supporting the best qualified and most appealing Republican candidate who has also made some appallingly bad choices when hiring paid campaign staff. At the very LEAST, I am of the opinion that we should petition Snyder, Moore, et.al. to respond with specificity to the allegations contained in this thread:

    http://www.nolanchart.com/article2518.html

I post this message here in the hope that those who were actually involved in the effort in Alaska (I live in CA) will read the above link and comment here with an opinion as to the veracity of the charges leveled therein. Things went very, very wrong in Alaska; if we are to have have any chance of prevailing in future contests it behooves us to learn from our mistakes.

There was also a few hundred independents that were turned away from voting in Anchorage by some stupid poll workers.

Unfortunately Alaska has no shortage of sheep, warmongers, and bible thumpers; and yes they tend to overlap in many areas. These forces combined were more than the thinking population could deprogram before the election happened. Not to mention big government rules in this state, we lick the boots of our federal government masters hoping to feast on the leftover pork. Our new Governor ran as a conservative but is really a socialist. Half the freaking state is on some type of government assistance. We have the same problems as everywhere else. This whole country is $#@!ed....rant off.
The original American patriots were those individuals brave enough to resist with force the oppressive power of King George. I accept the definition of patriotism as that effort to resist oppressive state power. The true patriot is motivated by a sense of responsibility, and out of self interest -- for himself, his family, and the future of his country -- to resist government abuse of power. He rejects the notion that patriotism means obedience to the state.

    Congressman Ron Paul 5/22/07

I don't think the grassroots has the capability to deliver a victory without the support of the national campaign. BUt the campaign promoted and supplied Alaska with the people who delivered less than stellar results in Iowa. Time and time again, that team (while well intentioned) has delivered pretty much the same results.

Isn't the definition of insanity doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results?

With the recent cutbacks, I suspect the roving band of official campaign organizers is a memory, regardless.
