Thread: My county in MO did 200+% better than state overall

Default My county in MO did 200+% better than state overall

Ron Paul got 4.5% overall in Missouri and 12.1% in my county, where we didn't really do much of anything campaign-wise as a group until mid-January. Had we started last fall, who knows how much better we would have done here.

Local newspaper and radio ads, door-to-door and phone canvassing, handing out literature and DVDs, yard signs and large signs on major roads are the methods we used.

Patience and hard work are the keys for winning states beyond Feb. 5th.

I think there's more to it than that.

We've been active in St. Charles County since last May and we got 4% in my county.

We did everything stated above plus 1,000.

We hit up every gun show since last May. The people at the gun shows knew us by name. We had billboards, sign waves, canvassing, etc etc etc. We worked our asses of and got 1600 votes out of 42000 cast for Republicans. Even my dad said that didn't sound right.

Suzu, what type of voting did you have in your county? Touch-screen, opti-scan, or just paper ballot hand count?

I have lived in St Louis Metro, Cape, and Springfield. the OP is in SW MO, there is definitely a cowboy culture there that RP should appeal to, despite the bible belt... You just dont generally have that kinda person in St. Charles...

We do the gun shows here as well. My brother works in firearms, and goes to alot of shows. He supports RP there as well!

Here in Columbia MO we went nuts with canvassing and today I saw at least 3 dozen Ron Paul signs and not a single sign from anyone else. We did the Gun shows here also (see video it's a keeper). This summer we are doing a "torch run" event where we will walk the Constitution from one end of the Katy trail to the other.

Well done! I always liked the Ozarks. Very nice people there.
