Very slick tactic. When he does this, he is imprinting his name and his face and his ideals in the memory of the viewer. This was a name recognition thing and I think it worked really well
Maxed out to ALL of Ron Paul's campaigns.

He needs to declare himself as president in his speeches.

    Take possesion.

I didn't notice... now when Bob Dole used to talk ALL the time in 3rd person that was weird. I think even Saturday Night Live made fun of Bob Dole for that.
When the IRS knocks on your door that is REAL terrorism.- Ron Paul 12/27/07

If you have no name-recognition, you'll have to say your name yourself

Yeah 3rd person can be good when used subtley. Wouldn't wanna do it all the time. But since MSM never says his name, its good for people to hear it a few extra times.
"The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands curtailed, lest Rome become bankrupt, the mobs should be forced to work and not depend on government for subsistence."

    Every other candidate does that.

    UnReconstructed thinks they suck.

The funny thing is, I have NEVER heard him refer to himself before in the third person, so this was interesting that he would do it twice tonight! Maybe he was trying to boost his name recognition.

While he was saying that they cut away to the audience and several of the kids were just beaming with smiles. I think they really liked how he said that. "I don't want to run your lives, I don't know HOW to run your lives, I have no RIGHT to run your lives."

I'm Ron Paul, the president of the United States.

Now go on children... goo... and be free!

Here's to hoping that 20-24 years from now, future candidates will bring up the name of Ron Paul in their desperate attempt to line up their ideals with him - the same way the current crop of critters invoke that "most holy" name of Ronald Reagan... heh heh heh!!!

"Mr. Chairman, we have in this Country one of the most corrupt institutions the world has ever known. I refer to the Federal Reserve Board and the Federal Reserve Banks, hereinafter called the Fed. The Fed has cheated the Government of these United States and the people of the United States out of enough money to pay the Nation's debt. The depredations and iniquities of the Fed has cost enough money to pay the National debt several times over. -Cong. Louis McFadden

I always find that very weird. I also notice he has only started doing that recently so there must be some reason for it.
