Thread: Ron Paul's Golden Hour - Feb.1st - 12am-1am ET - $1 MILLION in 1 HOUR

  1. #1

    Smile Ron Paul's Golden Hour - Feb.1st - 12am-1am ET - $1 MILLION in 1 HOUR

Ron Paul's Golden Hour - Feb.1st - 12am-1am ET (First hour of the Mass Donation Day)

To complement the 51st Anniversary Mass Donation Day gift for Ron and Carol Paul, I figure February 1st between 12am ET and 1am ET is the perfect time to donate $1 MILLION in 1 HOUR.

Doing this in the first hour of the mass donation day will have multiple benefits...

    (1) Ron and Carol Paul will be sleeping at this early hour in the morning and what better anniversary gift for them to wake up to than the Million Dollar Golden Hour.

    (2) This will give the morning news something to talk about RIGHT AWAY, and again think of how Dr. and Mrs. Paul will feel as they wake up to news of this wonderful gift.

    (3) It will generate EARLY excitement and get more people to donate more $ and more $ and more $ ;-)

    9950 X $100.51 = $1,000,074.50

    6623 X $151 = $1,000,073

    1000 X $1000 = $1,000,000

    952 X $1051 = $1,000,552

    488 X $2051 = $1,000,888

This is a perfect time to max out your contribution

I feel this is something everyone at Ron Paul Forums could accomplish with some planning and promotion over the next several days.

For those that are not sure about time zones you can figure out what time zone you're in at:
    http://www.worldtimezone.com/time-usa2.htm

    12am - 1 am Eastern Time (Feb.1)
    11pm - 12am Central Time (Jan.31)
    10pm - 11pm Mountain Time (Jan.31)
    9pm - 10pm Pacific Time (Jan.31)
    8pm - 9pm Alaska Time (Jan.31)
    7pm - 8pm Hawaii Time (Jan.31)

The purpose of the poll is to get people to pledge to donate at certain times within the first hour to spread out the donations so everyone doesn't try to donate at 12am ET at the same time. Maybe people in the later times zones can donate early in the hour and those in the earlier times zones later in the hour.

WISH RON and CAROL PAUL A HAPPY 51st WEDDING ANNIVERSARY ON FEB.1st

I'd like to donate at a specific time, but what are the times in PST (California)?

  4. #3
bump! Let's try to establish this as the million-dollar hour a couple days in advance to promote it, instead of trying to make one the day of. If you plan to donate on the 1st, do it between 12 am EST and 1 am EST.

California is 3 hours behind the eastern time zone. So if you want to donate at 12:15am ET, in California it will be 9:15pm in the evening on Jan.31.

Awesome idea, get the money bomb started off big.

    Count me in!

  8. #7
Seems logical enough. Hopefully there won't be any big casino fires, stock market dips, or famous actors dying the morning of Feb. 1st. That totally ruins the focus on Ron Paul. I'll stay up for this.

  9. #8
If this is the plan, then absolutely nobody should go to ronpaul2008.com between 12:00 AM and 1:00 AM unless they are donating at the time. Otherwise, find another site to watch the ticker.

The servers would be bogged down like crazy to handle 1 mil in an hour.

People really shouldn't go there at all on Feb 1st except to donate.

$1 MILLION IN 1 HOUR CAN BE DONE

Maybe make a note in your signatures about donating between 12am-1am ET

I'm actually one of those who will be donating in the hour of 12-1 am est. Just curious though. I was looking at the ronpaulgraph about which hours get the most donattions. Interesting to note that the hours that get the most donations are between 9 PM-12 PM EST. Check it out -the biggest times where people donate the most money. http://www.ronpaulgraphs.com/hourly_donations.html and her is a graph that shows what times of the day RP gets the most people donating. http://www.ronpaulgraphs.com/hourly_donors.html Notice a trend? Anyway, thought it was interesting.

According to the average hourly donations graph, the top two hours are the LAST and FIRST hours of the day repectively, which is interesting indeed. So if the first hour of the day has the second highest average, that may bode well for the plan to get $1 MILLION in the first hour on Feb.1st. I just figured it would be a lot better to do it in the first hour so Ron and Carol Paul can wake up to the news reporting it first thing in the morning.

Which is really good for this one hour deal. It also shows the kind of supporters we have. You can really tell that we have a young exciting voting base.

7 pm central is best in my opinion. Too much is given on the days preceding and following the bombs in the past. People start too soon and wait too long and much concentration on one day, what the bomb is all about, is lost. So then if one golden hour is to be selected it should certainly not be the first or final hour of the day of the bomb.

We have people pledged to donate on that day already. They will donate at some point why should we try to do 1million in 1 hour unless we are trying to sabotage our money-bomb. I say this because there is absolutely no way their website can handle these many donations per hour. It crashed on Dec 16th for having less than 1/5 of the donations per hour than what your asking and once crashed donations couldn't be sent in for another 45-minutes until it was fixed. If you guys try to do this all in 1 hour the website will crash and no donations will be able to get through until they fix it. Sorry to disagree with pretty much everyone here but his is an accident waiting to happen. On Dec 16th the servers crashed in the last 45minutes of our event because donations were at a new record speed. Keep in mind this was only about 200k per hour and you're trying to do this times five (Meaning it will absolutely crash). People will donate on February 1st.. what time they donate makes no difference, except it should be kept completely random so no group is donating like crazy and crashes the website (halting further donations). I guarantee you the servers can never ever handle this kind of pressure or even close to it.

Sorry but I'm kind of confused. I just explained in a paragraph why this will never work and will only crash the server (Likely in the first few minutes depending on donation pace) if you were able to pull in the amount of donations per hour you wish for. Then an hour or so later... you post and completely ignore this.. is it not relevant? If you were around at the last hour of the Dec. 16th money-bomb you would know this is never going to work (The servers couldn't even handle 1/5th of this load) and now you want to try this out..?

It is good people are thinking of new and fun ideas but if its going to not work and is very possibly going to sabotage our money-bomb day (At least for the hour or so the server crashes) how is ignoring that wise? The money is going to be donated on the first of February! It doesn't matter when but if you don't keep it random and let people choose when to donate randomly you will overload the servers and halt all donations! You guys I'm trying to help avoid an accident waiting to happen.. this idea has the right intentions but some of the worst things ever ideas ever started with the best intentions. Theres no if, and, or buts to it... this will definitely crash the server and then you can forget about the million coming in at all. Just spread the donations out and whatever you do don't crash the server on the day we need it up the most! Please think this through guys the servers cannot handle this and therefore its impossible to ever work.

Pledge today for the money-bomb on February 1st Ron Paul and his wife Carol's 51st anniversary by going to www.FiftyOneYears.com

I agree. And I'm the director of programming for a web company, so I know what I'm talking about. It's just silly and there's no practical reason to do this in one hour. The MSM will ignore us just as much if we raise $1 million in 1 hour as they will if we raise $5 million in 24 hours. Let's be sensible. As long as you donate on Feb 1st, the time is irrelevant.

$400,000-$500,000 was raised in the first hour with NO problems at all.

The problems that occured at the end of Dec.16 were because everyone who had already donated kept going back again and again to check the total.

This was brought up before and someone posted elsewhere in the forum that HQ said something like this is possible when they contacted them to ask if the servers could handle that much in an hour.

What is the most donors in 1 hour so far? 4000-5000?

I hope your info is accurate.. that it was just people checking the website at 11:00. I wonder though what makes you think there won't be just as many people at the website during this hour. I think the time you donate on February 1st is irrelevant and it's really not worth risking overloading the website. If you're certain it won't well then have at it..

I believe there were over 4,000 people logged into this forum near the end of the big money bomb. I noticed the site was getting slower and slower as i tried to read postings, then it finally froze up.

We need to spread this message outside of just this board on the forum.

Cover the forum with it so everyone here knows, and spread the word outside of it to the meetup groups.
