I'm sure they are trying to tempt him back to the House and playing every front they can. But I think they are trying to make US feel the GOP has our interests at heart.

He already had some 220 sponsors.

This is absolutely the most important thing concerning our nation and must be passed. Monetary policy MUST be reformed or the value of our dollar will be nill, and that will affect EVERYONE (I would suggest everyone puchase gold and silver bullion to secure your wealth). The Fed must be overhauled (hopefully the fiat system will be abollished eventually), the budget must be balanced, and for Gods sake, spending must be cut drastically. Some very difficult decisions need to be made that may hurt in the short term, but will benefit everyone in the long run. If drastic changes are not made, i fear for the future of this country.

In conclusion, Congress must pass this bill to expose the fraud and deceit perpetrated by The Fed, those responsible must be thrown in jail and a sound monetary policy must take its place.

Heh..... The ONLY way a truly open and full audit happens is if the world currency is ready to be ushered in. TPTB no way in hell let's an audit otherwise, unless It's a gutted one like after last election. To even begin to think otherwise is just setting yourself up for indignation and anger down the road.

Wow. An Up-Or-Down vote. This could be a big deal.

The article says it will probably come up for a vote in July. The audit would take place before the end of 2012.

If you want to make sure this passes, please contact your Representative and Senators.

You can find more information about contacting Congress regarding this issue here:

Of course they can but will they...most likely not.

A pretty thorough audit was conducted two years ago. This bill will make just a couple more things eligible to be audited, like monetary policy decisions. That would just require releasing transcripts.

    End The Fed NOW!!!

Assuming every co sponser votes for this doesnt it already have enough support to pass the house?

the House yes, but not the Senate, where there are only 20 sponsors so far. Last time not all the sponsors voted for it, though. And we want it to pass overwhelmingly in the House so the Senate is on the spot at minimum.

HR1207 did not get voted on by itself (and neither did S602).

You know what I mean. The amendment that had the exact same words did.

My point was just that a committee vote on an amendment wasn't a good test for how the bill would have done by itself under a vote among the full House.

I don't recall the exact details, but Barney Frank, while never a co-sponsor, flip-flopped on Ron Paul's full audit and may have taken a few Democratic co-sponsors on the committee with him. But most of the Democratic co-sponsors in the full House would probably have followed through and voted for it, which is why Barney Frank never let it out of the committee on its own.

It passed the House last time, didn't it? IIRC, the Senate made sure it got chucked head-first into purgatory.

It passed the House's Financial Services Committee where only about 50 members of the House voted on it. It was then attached to the Dodd-Frank Bill so the entire House never got a clean up or down vote on it (only the 50 members in the Financial Services Committee got to vote on it).

The Senate's bill was watered down just before they voted on it by the sponsor (Bernie Sanders). That watered down bill passed overwhelmingly. David Vitter than introduced the original bill as Ron Paul's and it only got like 30 something votes when there were more co-sponsors of the Senate bill with the original wording. I think 5 Democratic Senators who co-sponsored the original bill voted against the original bill they co-sponsored.

The fed reports on its balance sheet, which definitely could be manipulated, but I don't think that is the worry. From what I've been able to gather the worry is how toxic the assets are on the feds balance sheet, i.e. $1Trillion in MBS which may only be worth $200Billion(hypothetical).

If the fed has been lying about their balance sheet however, I'd expect the dollar to get crushed. I would think it would open up the door to lawsuits and fraud charges too, and possibly jeopardize our reserve status.
