Apparently the article skipped over this, have to go to the comment section..
http://www.independent.com/news/2015...ague-potholes/This article has so skewed the facts of what happened that it is shocking. What happened is this: Scott McGolpin presented a chart showing how much money the average taxpayer spends every year on coffee, cable TV, cell phones and internet service. He then suggested that if the taxpayers gave up the afore mentioned "addictions" they could afford to pay higher taxes. This sparked an absolute taxpayer revolt in the Board of Supervisor's meeting room. All 8 speakers who gave public comment reminded the board that several supervisors opposed Measure M and at least 3 supervisors held up signs during the election saying "No New Taxes!" ( remember that Liz?). After public comment Salud Carbajal and Doreen Farr meekly told the full board and the public that they would not support raising taxes-at any level of government- to pay for road and bridge repairs.
