TSA wants armed guards at security checkpoints

Entirely predictable reaction to the LAX TSA "shooting". It's calling for police stationed at security checkpoints but I'm sure this will eventually morph into TSA themselves carrying guns and given direct arrest powers.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Transportation Security Administration recommended Wednesday that airports post armed law enforcement officers at security checkpoints and ticket counters during peak hours.

The recommendation was one of 14 determined after a nationwide review of security at airports prompted by a fatal shooting at Los Angeles International Airport last fall.

The 25-page report to Congress was obtained by The Associated Press. Congress will now review the recommendations. more at link

How long until we are required to go thru automated TSA body scanners before stepping out our front door? The TSA is only validating its own existence through emotional manipulation. They want us to be afraid of terrorists at EVERY step. There might be a terrorist in a Mall so all Malls should be required to have the TSA. Who benefits? Us, or the TSA? They might attack a grocery store too. Their solution, TSA at mom and pop grocery stores. Again, who benefits, us, or the TSA?

Papers, mundanes! They dont even bother to say 'Please' any more.

Congressional hearing on TSA funding, police powers, etc today. We need moar moneys!!

    http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/n...leigh/9732701/

WASHINGTON – Better training and more federal funding would help airport officials and police prevent shootings like the one that killed a Transportation Security Administration officer in Los Angeles in November, a House panel heard Thursday.

Marshall McClain, president of the Los Angeles Airport Peace Officers Association, told the Homeland Security subcommittee on transportation that staffing has fallen during the last four years despite the airport expanding. Two police officers were assigned to the terminal where the shooting occurred, "which is typical," he said.

The American Alliance of Airport Police Officers made recommendations in September 2012 that weren't acted on, but McClain said they could have helped during the Los Angeles shooting Nov. 1, 2013 {d21: You mean the drill at LAX?}. The recommendations included fortifying checkpoints with more officers, coordinating police access to airport camera feeds and detailing responsibilities between police and TSA officers. more if click
Won't be long before TSA is just given full police powers imho.
