Quite an interview. Tough to do when the host is attacking you most of the time.

Good back and forth. Terminology was a bit of a problem, even Trevor Noah pointed out that the term "socialism" is more of a scale without a single clear definition. At the same time, Noah tried to put everything bad on capitalism. Capitalism itself is such an abused term that it causes confusion. At least Rand was able to point out that crony capitalism is not true capitalism.

"Beware the Military-Industrial-Financial-Pharma-Corporate-Internet-Media-Government Complex." - B4L update of General Dwight D. Eisenhower
"Debt is the drug, Wall St. Banksters are the dealers, and politicians are the addicts." - B4L
"Totally free immigration? I've never taken that position. I believe in national sovereignty." - Ron Paul

Yeah but Noah also tried to point out that crony socialism isnt true socialism, so it kind of is a wash

Trevor Noah really got him good on his support for arming and helping the Kurds create a homeland in Syria. Even Rand agreed with Biden on dividing up Iraq into 3 states like the imperialist govt the US has become. How is it that he now supports withdrawing 50 troops from the region so Turkey can attack when he previously supported arming the Kurds and helping them create a state if they helped us fight ISIS(which he agreed that they did)?

This is what happens to you when you dip your feet into neocon policy and try to retreat. It sticks on you like stink on shyte. This sort of gotcha would never have happened to a principled non interventionist like his dad. You will never hear Ron say "Assad must go", "lets arm the kurds and help em create an ethnostate", "Biden was right on his idea to divide up the Iraqi state after an illegal invasion"

Rand just lied when he said that he has never advocated for creating a Kurdish state in Syria. I have heard him support the idea of carving up Syria and Iraq(but not Turkey, I wonder why) for an area for Kurdistan.

I am going to try and find the video of his saying this.

I'm pretty sure the video at the link on the website is the extended interview with Rand. On the episode that they broadcast they probably only showed the part where they were talking about Trump, and not the part where Rand talked about socialism. Typical.

Rand did want to arm the Kurds in Iraq to fight ISIS in Iraq. I am not sure that he ever talked about creating a Kurdish Homeland in Syria though. Be sure to let us know if you find a quote on that.

There are a lot of different Kurdish groups over there. They are not all identical.

I have look and I cannot find the wolf blitzer interview in question. I remember the interview very well because it hurt me deadly hearing say "Assad must go" and what I remembered as him saying we need to create a country for the Kurds in Iraq and Syria. The articles I have read about the story didn't really answer my question because he was vague in his statements. He would say things like we needs to fund and reward the Kurds fighting ISIS with their own homeland. Then you look at see that the main Kurdish group fight ISIS and have taken territory for themselves are the Syrian Kurds.

This is not the video I was looking for but its a video of Rand being vague about the creation of a Kurdistan state.
