Meh, showed this to a forum I regular in which the majority of members are leftist Europeans. Got called a bunch of names, got referenced to the social contract(ie: maybe he should move to another country). The one conservative amongst them, a South American, called me a dreamer and brought up the old "what about roads" argument.

The Constitution is the original social contract and the deal was that the government would stay out of your way and in exchange you would agree to stay out of other people's ways. If someone objects to the Constitution as a social contract, it is he who should consider moving to another country.
Anyway, sorry to hear it didn't make make it through their thick skulls. You could show them this as well but I'm not sure how much good it would do based on what you said
There is no social contract because I never handed my sovereignty to the government.The notion of the social contract implies that the people give up sovereignty to a government or other authority in order to receive or maintain social order through the rule of law.
