I'm not sure I would go that far but perhaps you should have to be born to at least one parent that was born here, that would keep the children of immigrants from voting unless they married an American.

The perception of fairness, it's part of human nature and you don't want to create an opening for a movement to reform the limits on voting that might give immigrants granted citizenship the vote.
You also don't want to give immigrationists an excuse to lobby for excessive immigration because they won't be able to vote for 3-5 generations.
Right.
How about we limit the type things we can vote on. Examples:
No one should be able to vote on things that require huge amounts of resources to be moved from one place to another
No one should be able to vote for a system that places power in the hands of one or the few
Also voting shouldn't ever be 51-49 majority. If something is overwhelmingly in the best interest of all people then the voting tally should be somewhere around 80-20 to change things. Gotta protect minority rights.
