I understand what Spike is saying here, and why he's saying it - and he's right. As gratifying as it might be, doing anything else is not likely to be constructive in producing the desired resolution to this particular case (or any other similar cases).
But at the same time, they are counting on people respectfully deferring to their authority and power (no matter how arbitrarily they exercise it). They depend on their victims (and their victims' supporters) being willing to "bend the knee" and "tug the forelock".
Nothing is going to change unless and until enough people stop saying "please" and "thank you" to these assholes and start making them suffer real and unpleasant consequences for their viciously unjust bullshit. (Of course, there are, in turn, real and unpleasant counter-consequences for doing that - which is why things have gotten to this point in the first place.)
