1984 was set after the divide and conquer phase that installed Big Brother in the first place. We're living the prequel to that.

No, I'm not at all sure that's the shooter. In fact, I think I agree with the twixt I quoted. All I know is, that may not be what osan was talking about but it's the most similar thing I could find for you.

I can't find the part where they disarm the world's citizens either. But I agree it's not exactly a jewel of a plan. Though in the face of what happened when the MIC went unchecked, I don't know what a good plan would have been.

LIHOP or MIHOP...? It's looking like it was one or the other. And either way, one could either decide it proves me wrong, or one could look at the way this is bumping his popularity and decide it proves me right. Especially if he was hit by shrapnel from something a yard away from him.

Apparently the rumor comes from law enforcement. If no teleprompter was hit, that doesn't make it any less interesting. https://www.rawstory.com/trump-was-hit-by-glass-fragments-not-a-bullet-report/ Neither Trump nor the doctor who stitched him up could possibly know for certain, one way or the other, if whatever hit him didn't lodge in him somewhere.

Yeah, that struck me. You bring bombs to your battlefield, then leave them locked in the car? Even insanity tends to drive toward a purpose. It's rarely random.

Now that sounds like an interesting old conspiracy theory. You know, people could actually consume this food for thought if you were thoughtful enough to name this plan, so we can look it up. Disarming Americans grates, but I can certainly see why the man would look for ways to keep America from looking vulnerable to outside forces (like the USSR) while doing something about the MIC/CIA. This is looking more like part of the psyop all the time. So, we no longer know for sure that Trump was really targeted during this live fire exercise, eh? Interesting. Proves nothing, but it casts everything in a new light.

When you're right for the wrong reason, you're still an idiot. Many drag racers prefer unsynchronized boxes like the Muncie Rock Crushers, because synchros can slow your shifts. One does not double clutch during a drag race because double clutching is a technique for downshifting, and a drag race requires only upshifts.

The LP has comedy value, to be sure. We have seen the enemy, and don't know if it's the CIA or if it's our own autistic asses. But I think the conversation was about, or more about, small-l libertarianism as a philosophy. And on that score, I think the old adage that it's always darkest before the dawn has merit, because excess tends to cause a backlash. They're trying to get us to go full totalitarian because of the problems they created. That's why they have reacted so strongly to Ron Paul and ourselves, and have worked so hard at usurping the Tea Party and other things. All we can do is keep broadcasting the fact that the government caused all those problems, usually deliberately, and see if that allows us to play one "side" off against the other. We have a real chance to do that, if we can avoid getting caught up in their artificial divide, and remember that the lesser evil is still more evil than ever.

I'm thinking (for what my opinion is worth) that you're better informed than ~95% of the population. The tricky part these days is figuring out what all that information adds up to. Toward. Look at the twixt in Brian's post just above yours.

Not for me. I'm far more likely to contribute to a maintenance man working in the private sector than any government employee. Anyone on the government teat who hasn't put something aside is a brat. Sometimes you do make me wonder who you think you're talking to when you come here.

Meh. It's not like it's even slightly unusual. I haven't seen ex-President Trump referred to as "unemployed reality show host", or Jimmy Carter as "retired peanut farmer". It's also completely understandable, especially in an obit. And there's reason for it. When people are trying to put a face to a name, "one time variety show host Carol Burnett" tends to work better than "occasional guest on Password Carol Burnett". You're grilling a nothing burger this time.

Liberty is lost through complacency and a subservient mindset. When we accept or even welcome automobile checkpoints, random searches, mandatory identification cards, and paramilitary police in our streets, we have lost a vital part of our American heritage. America was born of protest, revolution, and mistrust of government. Subservient societies neither maintain nor deserve freedom for long.
