I believe I saw it by chance actually. I was browsing the Mises site and I believe there was a tab entitled "Mises U" and I happened to click on it and got really excited about the program. I believe there will be more excitement as the program gets some traction. The value is really incredible. You are essentially getting online, targeted instruction from the top Austrian economists in the world for what equates to about $4,500 for a 30 credit MA Economics degree. For comparison, look at an online economics degree from most universities and you will see the cost is much higher. A George Mason online-only MA Degree in Economics is about $30,000 for a 30 credit degree. There is a curriculum difference between the two degrees though. The Mises Institute degree is focused exclusively on Austrian Economics whereas a George Mason University MA degree is going to be a mix of macro economics in the Austrian tradition, conventional microeconomics as well as experimental economics. From what i can tell the Mises Institute degree in Austrian Economics is really geared toward people who want to get into academia and who are very interested in the subject.

Yeah, the program looks amazing. I actually have been emailing back and forth with the Provost and unfortunately there are 16 states where post-secondary private accreditation is mandatory. One of which is the great (not really) state of GA. So unfortunately they cannot accept my application.

Yeah, we actually have quite a few liberty-lite or liberty-questionable candidates that have a great chance to win their general election race. Madison Cawthorn, Nancy Mace, and Kat Cammack (in a good position to win primary) are all good candidates too. There are questions about how liberty friendly they are but at least they have some upside.

The two are not mutually exclusive. It is in times of crisis that the party looks inward and searches it's soul. When the Dem's go further left that is an opportunity for the GOP to move further right. That is why we haven't gained much steam since Trump won. For all intents and purposes the base was happy, the economy (in the short term) was doing well and life was good. Only when there is a crisis does your average voter start to take a closer look. Never let a crisis go to waste.

I can tell you that the bar to get YAL help is pretty high. I was speaking with a YAL guy on Tuesday when I was sign-waiving for Gurtler and he was telling me that the candidates have to go through 2 (2 hr) interviews before getting a decision. Not only that but in most of these state races we are their main fundraising arm as well as their ground game so guess who they are beholden to? I also know that one of the people who knocked doors with me in Iowa in 2011 for the "Christmas Vacation with Ron Paul" program is now a state rep. in MO. I know that Matt Gurtler (a YAL state house rep. who ran for Congress) voted NO more than any other legislator in GA. Glenn Jacobs won his Mayoral race because of YAL. This election cycle (primary 2020) has been huge for YAL. If we win most of the seats we've primaried come Novemeber we will be on track for 250 by 2022. Granted, I am much more interested in Federal Races. That is probably a bad thing as I know a lot of important issues go on at the state level. I am a math guy though - and what I really like to do is to come up with equations. The question becomes... of the state rep's who run for Congress, how many of those races are we winning? FC (Federal Candidates) X WP (Win Probability) = Federal Legislators So far we've lost the Brakey race and the Gurtler race. Those are the only two candidates who had come up through the YAL organization and been state rep's then ran for Congress. The discerning thing is that they both had the money advantage (when you add in PAC support) as well as a much better ground game than their opponents. So what is the missing puzzle piece? Is it just too difficult to win as a no compromise candidate? I believe that is the case when the GOP is in power. It is too difficult to break with your own party on anything and get elected. Our Federal wins will come about when the opposing party is in power, and that might just happen come this November.

That is a very real possibility. I don't necessarily think the neocons take over. They might, but its not a guarantee. And during the (at minimum) 4 years of Biden the party will be up for grabs and there will once again be a battle for the future of the party. Look at our Federal election winners (Amash, Massie, Paul) do you know what they all have in common? They were all elected during the Obama Presidency. Now rack your brain and tell me about the liberty federal GOP candidates who won during the Trump Presidency? none. I do. That is by far our best chance.

I'm sure I will catch some flack for this, but I am actively rooting for Trump to lose. That is the only way we will be able to re-make the GOP in the Liberty image. The Trump-led GOP has been hostile to liberty candidates as evidenced by the Brakey, Sethi, Gurtler losses.

When you select the Mises Institute as your charity of choice through AmazonSmile a portion of your purchase goes towards the Mises Institute. All at no cost to you. All the items you buy via Amazon are the same price, the only difference is the Mises Institute gets a portion of the revenue. \ Learn more here https://smile.amazon.com/gp/chpf/about Be sure to select the Mises Institute when you sign up for AmazonSmile. P.S. I have no monetary affiliation with The Mises Institute, just trying to support them any way I can.

As soon as I did my 23 and me I instantly regretted it. I have yet to uncover any offspring but I always check my email for the "new relatives" email.

Nobody was fond of that endorsement but it was either endorse and keep your seat or not endorse and get voted out on the next re-election. Maybe when Rand has been in his seat for 20 years he will have the political capitol to vote his heart and endorse whoever he wants but until then he MUST make at least small concessions. Like it or not that is how the game is played.

I think the take-away here is that if you are going to run a no-compromise Ron Paul Republican literally everything has to go right. In terms of money, Matts campaign fundraised well and we had almost $2M of outside money helping Matt (freedomworks, protectfreedompac, liberty pac, concerned american voters pac). So money wasn't the issue. Matt had pretty solid name ID being a state rep for 4 years. He ran a good campaign and had a hell of a ground game. I think the thing that killed the campaign was the fact that he was the only republican to vote against the solemani resolution and also the fact that he skipped the vote on a "peace officers" bill of rights. At the end of the day there is only so many votes where you can go against the grain and still come out victorious. I think the key thing here is that we had, what, 3 congressional races that we ran? Brakey, Gurtler, Freitas - that is not enough. Both Brakey and Gurtler had the money advantage versus their opponent when you factor in PAC's but still lost. The ground game in both races was solid as well. I think we are going to have to more stabs at the apple. Maybe we win 1/10? I dont know exactly, but we need more stabs at the apple for sure. The other takeaway, and I believe this is absolutely paramount.... We are gong to win many more liberty races when the sitting president is a Democrat instead of a Republican. Unfortunately every GOP president is doing tons of unconstitutional stuff and liberty candidates don't compromise so we are bound to catch flack for that. When a democrat is in power our "NO" votes wont catch any flack from our own party.

Polls have closed! It's time for the moment of truth, folks. Follow the results here https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/08/11/us/elections/results-georgia-house-district-9-primary-runoff-election.html If you are following along the eastern counties have started reporting. Those are all Clyde strongholds, the numbers will go up as the other counties report. A couple harbinger counties to follow are forsyth and hall. They are most populous and most up for grabs.

From my understanding President Trump's Executive Order will defer the Payroll Tax for Income earners making less than $100K annually (or $4,000 bi-weekly) Does that mean if someone earns more than $100K (or $4,000 bi-weekly) that they will not get the payroll tax deferment? Or will they get deferment up to the first $100K (annualized) and then pay payroll taxes on wages over that portion? I.E. Someone earns $5,000 on a bi-weekly pay check and doesn't pay payroll tax on the first $4,000 of income but they do pay payroll tax on the last $1,000 of income or Someone earns $5,000 bi-weekly and they pay payroll tax on all $5,000 just as they normally would

Not wanting to expand the movement in any way. You would rather have a Romney presidency or an Obama presidency and no influence from Rand or Ron in the administration. That would be a step back. That is what sickens me. This movement is so purist that it will never go anywhere or expand the brand to other people.
