Whew that sounds like a pretty serious threat. I can't imagine anyone ignoring a House subpeona, or just giving non-answers if they do actually show up.

Well, they can now compel Hunter to testify under threat of perjury... If they actually wanted to uncover the corrupt system, it wouldn't take that long at all. But since none of them have an interest in uncovering it, we all know this doesn't even get started.

Oh wow that sounds pretty serious. How many decades of House investigation do you think it will take to use it all out?

The negativity in this thread is comical, but nobody has commented yet about how they are creating a new government agency to get rid of the other government agencies like in previous threads on the topic, and that is a shame. 1863666221301764462 https://x.com/elonmusk/status/1863666221301764462

I would support some significant limits on the pardon power. We can not count on norms to limit government, the restrictions need to be explicit.

This is correct, it was a full and unconditional pardon for everything he did or may have done over a ten year span of addiction, corruption and back room dealing with foreign adversaries. Pretty impressive when you think about it, I'll have to do some research, but I am seeing this pop up all over: that this was the most comprehensive pardon ever granted by a president.

Mises.org David Gordon 11/29/2024 Andrew Puzder, who is both a leading business executive—he was the CEO of a restaurant chain that owns Carl’s Jr.—and an experienced attorney, tells a dramatic tale. The free market is by far the best economic system and has made possible, since the Industrial Revolution, a historically unprecedented rate of economic growth. The free market is an economic democracy in which entrepreneurs vie to do the bidding of consumers, who, in most cases, want the most money possible. In corporations, the consumers are the corporations’ owners, the shareholders, and officers of corporations have a fiduciary duty to them. In recent decades, a new conception of the free market—“stakeholder capitalism”—has become influential, although a resistance movement has arisen that has been able to thwart the most drastic ideas of the stakeholder advocates. According to them, the managers of companies should take into account the interests and values of all of those affected by the company. The stakeholder advocates do not deny that managers have a fiduciary duty to the owners of their business, but they claim that other things must be considered as well. Two of these other concerns—encapsulated in the acronyms ESG and DEI—especially concern our author. I will not explain what these acronyms stand for—readers who want to know can easily find out. Suffice it for our purposes to say that they call for more “diversity,” by which is meant hiring more women and members of ethnic minorities and putting them on the company’s board of directors, and also greatly decreasing the use of fossil fuels in order to deal with “climate change.” Puzder, to say the least, is not sympathetic to “diversity” as it is currently understood, although he does not reject it altogether. He thinks it is desirable to have women and members of ethnic minorities on company boards of directors, because this promotes “cognitive diversity,” but he thinks that this will come about as a side effect if everyone elected to the board is committed to putting their fiduciary responsibility to the shareholders above other considerations, and he opposes mandating these other considerations by government agencies that have been taken over by the “woke” left.

I admit that I didn't follow Hunter, but according to that OP letter it was over taxes a gun registration form? Shouldn't this be celebrated? Will Trump pardon America if they don't pay taxes and fill out gun forms too?

You know, if there's one thing we can be 100% certain of, it's that Trump is going to do what he's going to do regardless how you feel about it. And if there's a second thing we can be 100% certain of, it's that you're going to show up no later than post #4 in the thread pointing out the betrayal to school us all on how him doing the exact opposite of what he said is in fact actually what he said he was going to do.

Making drugs illegal was cover for much larger problems. Nobody I knew who was doing drugs 30 years ago had a great relationship with their parents. And none of them fit into the social hierarchies in school. The fundamental message going out to young people was 'we do not respect you as an individual and if you don't conform you're going to live a life of hardship'. And tack on 'oh yeah you're also going to spend half your waking hours in a literal prison that you're not allowed to leave and your movements will be super regulated and you will exercise when you're told and you will cheer when we tell you to cheer'. The only thing surprising about how this turned out is that people are still surprised at it. I was out of school less than 10 years when Columbine happened, and all the potheads I was hanging out with all went "well, DUH". And now we all have homeschooled kids and our message to them is 'we respect you as people and are trying to help you make decisions that will set you up to be happy first, and to find success where you can'. And all of these homeschooled kids have heard about Warren V DC, Deshaney V Winnebago County, and Castle Rock V Gonzales. They may not have them memorized but unlike our generation, they do tend to place importance on the things their parents think are important. So they know the authorities are operating under false pretenses by even suggesting that the point of analyzing your waste has anything to do with anything apart from subjugation.

My brother recently compelled me to watch this retrospective of Firefly because the presenter makes a damned good point. Of course we didn't get the conclusion that the show deserved (after about 10 seasons) but the primary reason it doesn't work today is because 20 years ago the writers were operating from a headspace where governments still had some sense of shame. They wrote stories with the understanding that the state had to keep up appearances and would go to pretty great lengths to cover up the fact that it had done horrible things. "Collateral Murder" was released 14 years ago. Nobody cared. The only response was to try to identify who leaked it and punish him. Before that, our tax dollars were literally paying for boy rape parties in Afghanistan. Still nobody cares. Trump already had every reason anyone ever needed to declare that he was going to be dismantling the FBI and returning all of its constitutional responsibilities to the entities that handled them prior to 1908. But we're not getting that - we're getting replacement, and continuation. Biden signed the pardon now because he doesn't give a shit because nobody else gives a shit. We're in Frank Zappa's late stage illusion of freedom and all people want is for some of the scenery to go back on stage. Nobody wants actual change. They just want the illusion back. Including you. Because who cares, really, if it's now or on January 19th? The only reason to care is because you know the main problem with doing it now is that the illusion of freedom is further shattered, and that's what matters the most to everyone. We all assume it's going to happen. We just don't want to know.

I know you mean well, but I'd appreciate it if you would avoid engaging people like Sola in this thread who are clearly only there to be rude and derail. Perhaps take it to PMs or another thread. Thanks! ~hugs~
