You make the same errors as everyday variety lefty libs when they argue against laissez-faire capitalism. This suggests to me a desperation on your part to discredit the author or ignorance of capitalism. WRT your point about Iceland, Do take your time reading.but till you're done and can make citations with your claims, don't expect me to take you seriously.

Meh, Krug is weaksauce like you. This subject has been covered many times since '08. I sometimes forget y'all are n00bs here, sorry. :o This was complied by our friend Wesker back in 2011. You should have read it long ago. (other people like Conza have compiled lists too, I just can't find them ATM) media page. FREE BOOKS! added 7/27/11 General/Introductions to Anarcho-Capitalism Antimarket Ethics: A Praxeological Critique by Murray Rothbard (Rothbard destroys many common criticisms against the market, absolutely a must read, for minarchists too.)

...Except it wasn't an appeal to authority. Please re-read the explanation of the fallacy for comprehension. Insisting someone read people who have actually thought through a philosophy and written about it intelligently in order to actually comprehend it is not significantly different than directing a person to a definitive encyclopedia. (rather like directing someone to read the Objectivist Manifesto and Rand's other non fiction in order to understand Objectivism instead of making shit up about Objectivism) Please school yourself before trying to school me, youngster.

You are just wrong about the farms I'm talking about that I've actually been to. I guess you just simply can't fathom there is such a thing as a good humane homestead. There are many dairies where the animals are literally treated as pets with names and all. But you never admit to that, you insist on demonizing all farmers who do anything besides crops.

Your fallacy is... Appeal to Authority argumentum ad verecundiam (also known as: argument from authority, appeal to false authority, appeal to unqualified authority, argument from false authority, ipse dixit) Description: Using an authority as evidence in your argument when the authority is not really an authority on the facts relevant to the argument. As the audience, allowing an irrelevant authority to add credibility to the claim being made. Logical Form: According to person 1, Y is true. Therefore, Y is true. Example #1: My 5th-grade teacher once told me that girls would go crazy for boys if they learn how to dance. Therefore, if you want to make the ladies go crazy for you, learn to dance. Explanation: Even if the 5th-grade teacher were an expert on relationships, her belief about what makes girls “go crazy” for boys is speculative, or perhaps circumstantial, at best.

I'm talking about the vegans I know. You've made it clear before that you are not a vegan. You've said you don't always agree with them either. But it's true that animals are a vital source of food in the world right now. The poor in destitute countries need nutrition. And there have been happy and healthy milk cows on small farms for thousands of years. Just facts.

Then the vegans will lobby for billion dollar programs to neuter them instead of letting hunters take care of them. Shoot one and you will get death row in Veganville. Or more likely a drone strike, that's where control freaks prefer to gravitate towards these days. Who needs trials right?

I think you misunderstand vegans. They are not the underground railroad for animals. They are Planned Parenthood for animals. They are mostly city slickers, they don't want a wolf eating their poodle and they don't want a wild cow pooping on their sidewalk, they think all of nature is just happy birds singing not coyotes eating bunnies. They think the environment is being destroyed by sheep passing gas. They would rather farm animals go extinct than to live a life of purpose to give life to starving children in Africa. They don't want happy healthy milk cows. They don't want healthy bulls being pampered to be herd sires. The only thing they care about regarding animals is denying you the right to eat an egg or a steak or even put honey on your toast in some cases. It's more like a religion than anything.

There are plenty of repeats and various ways to watch (see here: Episodes are presented chronologically. I missed the first one, but you don't (of course) need to watch these consecutively to follow it. There are many interviews from various people and perspectives. The first link I posted is just a tiny sample of the different points of view. There is plenty of original footage. They skillfully intersperse recreation with actual footage. A big focus is the detail of individual battles, including many satellite maps. If you like military history, then the show is definitely for you. There is however, a lot of other kinds of history: political, social, cultural, etc. The show, again, approaches the subject from many different angles. I think the show is very well done. It's different from other shows on the same subject because it's more in-depth (18 hours) and very, very thoughtful. I know people don't always like public television and its producers, but the quality is there. I don't like certain things about PBS and its creators, but it's not an either/or proposition. For example, I find the PBS animal show Nature second-to-one. The Vietnam War series follows this lead in that they let the audience actually reflect on what they're watching. This is opposed to other shows that hurry through the dialogue and speed through the footage. The narrator of the Vietnam series is very crisp and clear. The script he reads is outstanding. I am actually coming away with a different perspective. Ha ha; I guess I should be a salesman for this show, but that's how much I like it. Here is the website description of this Sunday night's episode:

I know you mean well, but I'd appreciate it if you would avoid engaging people like Sola in this thread who are clearly only there to be rude and derail. Perhaps take it to PMs or another thread. Thanks! ~hugs~
