Why would they risk an international incident by launching weather balloons across several sovereign nations?

Who are these people that claim to have the power that they can just announce "rules" that we must obey? (purely rhetorical question, I know) So, now we can look forward to stoves that don't cook, to go right along side our washers that don't wash, lights that don't light, toilets that don't flush, cars that don't go, furnaces that don't heat and paints that don't paint, to name just a few. Just an aside...this little cold snap up here has got some folks furious. Seems they are finding out that those new fangled second generation "green" electric heat pumps for home heating and cooling do not work when it's a gozillion degrees below zero, like it was last night and like it usually is for at least a few weeks every winter.

The depot hack predates the Model T. Not mentioning U.S. Body & Forging is ridiculous; that was, after all, the company that first applied the name "Suburban" to a motor vehicle. Station wagons in those days weren't just, or even predominately, applied to car chassis. Plenty went on light truck chassis. What is called an SUV today was a station wagon through the 70s, it just happened to also be a truck. Dodge used a Budd all steel body in 1923. The Chrysler Airflow was all steel in 1934. Both predate GM's Turret Tops of '36. The Town & Country was not more luxurious than the Crown Imperial limousine. They also weren't wagons in '46-'48, though they were woodys.

I grew up looking at the world from the rear facing seat of a '69 Chevy Concourse Estate. I was 4 when my dad bought it and 17 when it left my life. My dad loved to take weekend trips everywhere, anywhere and all the in between. With a wife and four kids the station wagon fit the bill. He kept it on even after my older brother and sisters flew the coop and he upgraded to a Buick Park Avenue. When I turned sixteen, passed my drivers course he gave me the keys. That was in '81. It had never been in a wreck. He did repaint it himself. Not the best job, but not the worst. My friends called it the "Green Hornet." A 350 4 barrel. Damn, it could go. It only had an AM/FM radio. But the glove box was plenty big enough to install a tape cassette player. I sold it to a friend for $300 when I went into the Navy. They say you'll always remember your first car. It's true. Soooo, many memories in that Chevy.

At the least this was an intel gathering mission and highly successful. I'm sure they have sig/int gathering that shows when they were first located. The channels that were run through and the lack of response. Hell, there's video of it passing over Gastonia, N.C. an hour south of me earlier today. Good point. This will take a little investigation. I think thermonuclear warheads can range from 100 to 3000 pds. But, will have to look at yield. Also will have to track down how large the balloon was and what its payload was capable of.

How much does one of these HEMP weapons weigh? Is it realistic to have a balloon carry it as a payload?

I would think a Thermobaric weapon could destroy that threat. Although at that altitude I'm not sure there is enough oxygen to do it. Simply, it never should have been allowed to enter our airspace. Either it was allowed or it was undetectable. Both need to be investigated and corrected. In weeks. Not decades.

I'm still not entirely convinced that what Goldberg said was an admission that cops ever brutalize white people. But if it is, I find it interesting that she happened to say it while a rumor was circulating that those five cops are gang members. The more the narrative crumbles, the more the distractions escalate.
