I get your point. What Sonny Tufts seems to be missing is the fact that you don't pick your plaintiffs. Well....sometimes people do. Rosa Parks wasn't the first black women not to give up her seat on a Montgomery bus, but the woman before her was a single mom and back then the left cared about appearances. Fast forward to the 21st century and a druggie who robbed a pregnant woman at gunpoint, but nonetheless was murdered by a cop (no excuse for Chauvin to have his knee on Floyd's neck 2 minutes after Floyd no longer had a pulse), became an international hero for....dying. And it's not like there haven't been more sympathetic black people killed by police. Elijah McClain was just walking home listening to music, wearing a ski mask because of his allergies and he was attacked by police and then overdosed by EMTs with ketamine. That was just a year before George Floyd. But how many people know his name? (I had to look it up). I think Floyd was a matter of timing. It was close enough to affect the 2020 election and far enough away from the First Step Act for all of the goodwill Trump had generated in the black community to have evaporated.

Possible perjury for him having said he didn't have such messages on his phone. Needlessly delaying and driving up the litigation costs by not cooperating with discovery. Disobeying a lawful court order. Yes. The attorney screwed up multiple ways. But it also sounds like Alex didn't tell the truth about whether or not he did any texts about Sandy Hook. There are two possibilities. 1) Alex just "forgot" and his lawyer didn't refresh his memory by helping him search through his own cell phone. 2) AJ didn't want the records out and told his attorney not to turn them over. It's still his attorney's screw up. He should have convinced Alex to turn the records over and explained to him how they would mitigate the situation. The Paul Joseph Watson comment about the COVID dummies and his statement "This is like Sandy Hook" wasn't necessarily fatal to their case. They could have argued that both were examples of unintentional mistakes that were cleared up as soon as possible. Sometimes the best answer is "I don't recall" as opposed to an emphatic "No." But also in this case there was a specific question that Alex could easily check and verify. Further, 99% of the time before you have someone under oath you do written discovery AKA interrogatories and requests for production of documents. Normally you have 30 days to comply though the time often gets extended. So there was probably an interrogatory question on paper that said "Do you send or receive any text messages about Sandy Hook" followed by "produce any text messages you sent or received about Sandy Hook." The lawyer should have found that, told Alex the answer to the interrogatory was "yes" and then created a file with a copy of all of those messages to turn over. Why that didn't happen? That's between Alex and his lawyer.

Of all the lies NPR and other leftists peddled, this is the one I find the most shocking. Politics also intruded into NPR’s Covid coverage, most notably in reporting on the origin of the pandemic. One of the most dismal aspects of Covid journalism is how quickly it defaulted to ideological story lines. For example, there was Team Natural Origin—supporting the hypothesis that the virus came from a wild animal market in Wuhan, China. And on the other side, Team Lab Leak, leaning into the idea that the virus escaped from a Wuhan lab. The lab leak theory came in for rough treatment almost immediately, dismissed as racist or a right-wing conspiracy theory. Anthony Fauci and former NIH head Francis Collins, representing the public health establishment, were its most notable critics. And that was enough for NPR. We became fervent members of Team Natural Origin, even declaring that the lab leak had been debunked by scientists. But that wasn’t the case. When word first broke of a mysterious virus in Wuhan, a number of leading virologists immediately suspected it could have leaked from a lab there conducting experiments on bat coronaviruses. This was in January 2020, during calmer moments before a global pandemic had been declared, and before fear spread and politics intruded.

Well, you and I have a slightly different take on Trump. I do think Trump is a monkey wrench to their plans. I just think he's useful to them. He's shown very little inclination to reduce government power - only a strong inclination to use it. But he can't be relied upon to use it in the way they want. So, instead of ignoring him, they use him to help grow their power for the next round. It's risky, but not as risky as having a true liberty candidate start attracting people.

For me, the appeal of RFK has nothing to do with his prospects of winning. We're screwed no matter who the figurehead is. For me, it's about causing the DNC heartache. I see anything that causes the machine some grief as a good thing. Their plans for us didn't include Kennedy. I'll take as many curveballs to their plans as possible.

Plaintiff's attorney : Mr. Jones, we have text messages that your lawyer accidentally sent to me of the very discovery that you said you didn't have. Alex Jones: I guess you've got your Perry Mason moment. Alex Jones' lawyers thought bubble : "Man we screwed up! And we didn't object based on privilege so it's a double screw up."

Could very well be. After Sulimani was assassinated, Iran "attacked" a U.S. base in a way that caused no casualties. On the flip side I've heard the argument that Iran was using cheap drones to draw down Israel's Iron Dome interceptors.

Right? It's so simple - why is there a huge discrepancy between what Texas is reporting and what the SSA is reporting?? TheCount keeps wanting to blame it on a Twitter thread for coming to an incorrect conclusion, but continually fails to give a correct conclusion. Sumthin' seems fishy. It may be nothing, or it may be something. But he wants to avoid the question entirely.

He used to say he's pro-abortion, pro-death penalty, pro-assisted suicide, pretty much pro-death. It's a funny line, but he's bought into the Malthusian belief that there are too many people. Musk calls these people "extinctionists". As for that clip, Maher has a misguided belief system, but he's got a decent bullshit detector. He knows where the leftists' policies lead.

No, dipshit - quit avoiding it. I want to know why the error... Why the discrepancy??? What was going on that provided the fodder for that Twitter post in the first place?? Texas is saying it was clearly a mistake... well, why is that? What happened to inflate those numbers of requests if they didn't come from the state?? And what is the purpose for all the extra attempts?? I know it'd be easier to just drop it, but it certainly seems suspicious that a government database would be recording requests that didn't happen. Or maybe they did? You can dodge and bob and weave, but there's got to be an explanation. If you don't think it was anything untoward, I'm sure you can fill us in.

There doesn't need to be any facts or evidence to support anything. Heck I bet a man could put on a dress and call himself a woman and people would call him a woman. Heck a burly dude with a huge beard could get all pissed off at a clerk for calling him sir and tell the clerk he is a woman. If the clerk doesn't comply the clerk gets fired or arrested. No proof of facts needed.

Not sure I qualify as anti-Trump, but HELL NO I'm not ok with this! What they are doing to Trump and those who support him (which is more than 1/2 the country) is horrendous! My issues with Trump have always been on his policies, his decision-making skills, and his ability to be influenced by the same people who are doing this to him and his supporters. Somehow, he's able to slide through, but there is a path of damage in his wake that seems to be undeniable. The problem here, once again, is that government is too powerful. Each side wants the ability to control that power and it seems neither side is much interested in reducing that power. Face it, there is no savior here. We are all on the waiting list to be approached and interrogated by the government. Our reaction when that happens will determine our fate. Record and publish the interactions. Until we have a President Massie, it's the best we can do.

  1. I'm not expecting Rand to get "more libertarian". I'm saying that he already is doing a lot better than I expected. I never would have predicted a filabuster against drone strikes or Rand seeking a resolution to repeal the Iraq AUMF based on my expectations of him. Rand could have run a purist campaign and MAYBE won a house seat. Would another Justin Amash in the house be worth more than a Rand in the senate? I don't think so. Maybe you do. As you say, to each his own.

We're basically not allowed to criticize Rand in his subforum. Its not just that its not considered acceptable, its downright forbidden in at least some cases.

As for the strategic end, Rand is not going to suddenly get more libertarian if/when he gets elected. That seems obvious to me. But... maybe I'm wrong. I can't play that game though. The thing I most loved about Ron was his consistency and honesty. Even before I actually agreed with him I felt that way. Rand is playing moderate on almost everything and its starting to get to me.

To each his own, of course.

Rand's answer on Guantanamo was, of course, awful. There's also this neat little gem that I just found:

I don't know the answers to all of this, so I don't judge the pro-Rand people here, but I don't think I can reward his pandering. We need somebody who will go into the debates and actually stand up for liberty. I don't expect anyone to get every single issue right, but Rand's deviations are pretty severe. Ted Cruz is more libertarian than he is on economic issues, and Obama is less hawkish than Rand against Iran. Now, I'd agree that Rand is better than either of those when you put all the issues together, but when you factor in the inevitable shift towards the center that occurs in general elections, and then factor in the compromises made during governing, its really not much. Or, at least, I don't think it is.

I can't read minds. I don't know for sure why Rand Paul is cozying up to the warmongerers as much as he is. But if he actually votes "yes" on these sanctions during negotiations, while Obama is threatening to veto, no less, that would make him more hawkish on this issue than Obama.

I'm getting sick of Rand Paul anyways. I'm sick of the pandering. You can't win by pandering to the whims of the sheep, you can only win by opening their eyes. I know that's unlikely, but expecting that someone will just sneak through, get the votes of the sheep, and then govern in a libertarian manner seems really, really unlikely. Everyone would say that the idea was absolute crap if it wasn't Ron Paul's son. Few would actually trust Rand, or let some of his comments go, if they didn't believe that everything Ron says about his son is literally true.

(My post was too long, give me 30 seconds and part II will be up.)

I have to agree with you on this being silly. I don't see why it matters what subforum the thread is in.

That said, a thread about ghosts got into the hot topics forum, so I have to agree with Sola that they are a little biased, even if it doesn't actually bother me as much as it does him (I've been in places WAY more biased than this, by far.)

Watching the two of you debate was possibly the most entertaining part of the religion subforum Oh well

In the twilight of the Cold War, the United States spent millions of dollars to supply Afghan schoolchildren with textbooks filled with violent images and militant Islamic teachings, part of covert attempts to spur resistance to the Soviet occupation.
