I disagree with the part I put in bold. Teachers don't have to have AR-15s but a Glock would be nice. In close quarters a rifle isn't THAT much of an advantage. The hero that took out an AR-15 wielding want to be mass shooter in Indiana some months ago used a handgun at 40 yards. And he had better aim that a lot of LEOs. Also a simple upgrade, bullet proof glass windows and doors, would have made a HUGE difference in the Nashville shooting.

In this case the terrorists have the best of both worlds. They've already put their "dog whistle" out. In the immediate aftermath of the shooting there were stories trending of people saying "Governor Lee cares more about protecting children from drag than protecting children from guns."
