Mises.org David Gordon 11/29/2024 Andrew Puzder, who is both a leading business executive—he was the CEO of a restaurant chain that owns Carl’s Jr.—and an experienced attorney, tells a dramatic tale. The free market is by far the best economic system and has made possible, since the Industrial Revolution, a historically unprecedented rate of economic growth. The free market is an economic democracy in which entrepreneurs vie to do the bidding of consumers, who, in most cases, want the most money possible. In corporations, the consumers are the corporations’ owners, the shareholders, and officers of corporations have a fiduciary duty to them. In recent decades, a new conception of the free market—“stakeholder capitalism”—has become influential, although a resistance movement has arisen that has been able to thwart the most drastic ideas of the stakeholder advocates. According to them, the managers of companies should take into account the interests and values of all of those affected by the company. The stakeholder advocates do not deny that managers have a fiduciary duty to the owners of their business, but they claim that other things must be considered as well. Two of these other concerns—encapsulated in the acronyms ESG and DEI—especially concern our author. I will not explain what these acronyms stand for—readers who want to know can easily find out. Suffice it for our purposes to say that they call for more “diversity,” by which is meant hiring more women and members of ethnic minorities and putting them on the company’s board of directors, and also greatly decreasing the use of fossil fuels in order to deal with “climate change.” Puzder, to say the least, is not sympathetic to “diversity” as it is currently understood, although he does not reject it altogether. He thinks it is desirable to have women and members of ethnic minorities on company boards of directors, because this promotes “cognitive diversity,” but he thinks that this will come about as a side effect if everyone elected to the board is committed to putting their fiduciary responsibility to the shareholders above other considerations, and he opposes mandating these other considerations by government agencies that have been taken over by the “woke” left.

I send out loving frequencies for OB as long as he is ok I am ok with whatever has happened or not happened. It could be a lot of things keeping him away. I wish the powers that be on this site would confirm that he has not been banned. As long as he is alright and not in need of our support right now the rest is none of my business.

Rosenne Barr inspired me to look into Zohar I have listened to several videos and gone to Zohar.com to try and learn something about it. I don't understand it. Do you? I know people who talk about it say it is protection, healing, and wisdom all rolled into words in a book. It origins are in Aramaic text but has been translated in other languages. It does make me wonder though.

Anything can "sound good" in theory. What if the person is considered a criminal because he/she used self-defense and was wrongly convicted? What if they are considered a criminal because their government is far too restrictive and deems anything outside of corrupt government mandates criminal? Why should a person be considered a criminal just because they don't want to be branded by government , but simply be left alone and off the grid? Cut the incentives and military would not need to be used. For the minimal circumstances of actual crime, local leo should be able to handle the situation. Too many blankets, which I do not agree with. If a crime has been committed against person or property, he/she deserves their day in court in front of a jury, regardless of where they happened to be born. Unless an actual crime has been committed against person/property and they are found guilty by a jury, humans beings have a right to travel freely without intrusion of any politician/government. Otherwise, we could all end up in the same situation where we are found guilty with the key thrown away before proven innocent - just because government wrote some stupid "law". One other example: how does it feel not to be allowed to "secede", if one chooses that it wants to? Does government know best and you should have "faith and trust" in it?

Anti Federalist is a friend, and he knows that I would never let his house burn. As for why I made the statement in the first place, that's how strongly I feel about individualism and property rights. I wish you sincere luck in kicking the addiction. I know how rough that can. Years ago I quit smoking for 4 years, I saved a lot of money and felt really great. Then one fun night I lit up "only one" while having a drink with somebody, and then all bets were off. Bad habit I know, but I never should have had that "one". So once again, good luck, and keep busy doing other things - that will help. Oh, and if there are any inconsistencies in what I say, I actually like when they are pointed out. Either I need to reevaluate, or provide more clarification on my hard stance. I'm not a spring chicken, I am very grounded, and it takes solid logic to change my positions ;-)

I already did in Post #'s 60 and 62. But it requires reading and thought, and an actual desire to defend our Rights, instead of easily and happily transferring them over to FED.GOV.

It doesn't have to be hypothetical if the people supporting Trump rise and demand what's right . Like any other business; start small, build a little wealth, invest, and expand into more and bigger opportunities. I'm not a socialist/communist so I can't advise beyond that. I believe that people should succeed/fail based upon their own merits. Riots can be dealt with on the local level. If they can't, that's on the local community, not the next state over or the federal government.

Solution: Instead of "getting behind in ground-swell", Trump's militant proposals, why not demand the Orange God to simply stop the funding. For the immigrants already here, they will be given the freedom of choice to either work for their money, or go someplace else, simply because there will be no money to be had. Then we won't need to line the pockets of the Bankers/MIC/Technocrats. I don't know how much simpler it can be. With all of the hatred, and support of Police-State tactics, no wonder this country is the way that it is. Good grief.

Sure, she's good on a lot of things, but she's still a politician. Let me explain my previous post: Building a Virtual Wall, 24/7 Camera Surveillance on every single street corner, more holding cells via the prison industrial complex, militarized LEO with Immunity, all funded by Federal dollars. By not defending and protecting Private Contract Rights, Private Property Rights and the Bill of Rights, do you now see how the Bankers/MIC/Technocrats will rake it all in, as we go broker, as we lose more of our Individual Rights?

Just out of curioisity, what exactly about "anarchism" do you disagree with? Mind you, I'm talking about philosophical anarcho-capitalism, not "anarchism" in the sense of no law and order of any kind. Were you using the term in the latter sense when you said you disagreed with it?

What distinction do you see between voluntarism and anarcho-capitalism, if any?

Yes, it does. And it will for a short spell, and then they'll go right back to it. Correct; Attack; Claim Victimhood - that is the M.O. They've admitted that Christianity is a warzone, and they believe that they aren't doing God's work unless they are sowing discord and reviled.

Get ready for phase three: victimhood, they are going to claim it.

Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.” ― Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

Glen Bradley Webdomain Update 12/23

by GunnyFreedom on 12-23-2010 at 07:00 PM
We are working on a community network that enhances the services, duties, and abilities of a State Legislator to affect the will of his district into law.

By developing a community caucus and integrating it with physical town halls and events, a new level of transparency will be achieved that will hopefully lead America back into the 21st century of Freedom.

Your help is vital to this project. We will need volunteers and funding. This is technically a "campaign activity"

S.510 Food Safety LIVES!

by GunnyFreedom on 12-19-2010 at 09:19 PM
Beware! Using a procedural trick, the US Senate late Sunday night unanimously added the Food Safety Bill back into the new Continuing budget resolution. It returns to the House in the exact text they sent it for consideration and a vote.

So says Jamie Dupree.

A major food safety bill that had almost been given up for dead was suddenly revived in the Senate late on Sunday evening, and may be ready for House approval as early as Tuesday.

Glen Bradley Legislative Agenda Strategy 2.0
