Lemme try again, the airline assets has value that can be used by a proper business to make profit. Lets say for example the value of the plane, route, brand etc is $1 billion. They can still be losing money every year with that asset. When this asset is sold, the proceeds can still be used to enrich the citizens. In addition to that, when the money losing airline is slashed off, the govt will gain by not losing money. There is no contradiction in my post.

So, forget about personality, the man is actually considering giving away taxpayer property to a small group of govt workers. I would still be bringing it up even if Ron Paul himself proposed such a silly policy. The problem with a charlatan/con man using liberty message to win is this, when he actually fails as a leader, his failures will be blamed on his and his campaign promises.

Let's assume 25 million Argentinians are taxpayers, that would mean giving every taxpayer a $40 tax cut. In addition, this will take away a most likely money losing institution away from the necks of ordinary Argentinians. No matter, how insignificant you think it is, this is a win for ordinary people. Gifting it to a few union workers is NOT the capitalist way of doing it. It is in fact what a socialist would do. My main reason for these posts is just to pump the breaks on the praise this man is getting. Like he is the 2nd coming of Ron Paul. He is doesn't mind telling off TPTB on how he will destroy their economic schemes and destroy their central banks but when it comes down to it, he is very pragmatic of maintaining a strong relationship with The Fed and Israel. I think when the real one will show up, he wouldn't be as bombastic as this one. He would probably take the same positions as Rand, be a little pragmatic while hinting he might go liberty mode when he gets into office. But again, lets hope I am wrong on this.

I disagree with u on this, i believe gifting taxpayer property to a small group of taxpayers is actually wrong. Yes, the state is bad and evil but state-owned properties should be returned to the people. My issue is that the man probably doesn't know how its supposed to be returned but because he is such an overconfident loudmouth, he says the first thing that comes into his head. Privatizing airlines has been done successfully by dozens of countries, it's usually popular because most airlines have very low return on capital or lose money. I am actually hoping, he will do a 180 once the thinking people in his cabinet talks to him. Heck, it was done to the same airline in the 2000s when Iberia bought majority shares of it. He can do it this time but now sell 100% of their stake in the airline. I am looking forward to his trip to the US and Israel. The man needs to visit his superior before taking his oath. Anarcho capitalist my arse.

Yes, it should definitely come with a tax cut for the citizens. Considering how he plans to slash govt spending on top of privatization, the money saved from it should result in a surplus that would allow the govt to easily cut taxes. And I always prefer tax cuts to rebates.

I am gonna get this out of the way, I am not asking for perfection from this guy. There are going to be more difficult decisions to be made in his first term, but this is not one of em. Most state-run airlines lose money and there is a long history of state-run airlines being privatized. Nigerian airlines at one point was privatized, the airline is still intact, serves the country but now no longer drains money from the taxpayers. If he not an expert on privatization, there is no issue with answering that your cabinet will come up with a plan to privatize it. If AOC would have stated that he wanted to give say a state-run hospital to the staff, everybody here would condemn her for it. But somehow because this comes from Milei, there are people who are coming to defend him.

Or just re privatize it and use whatever money he gets to run the govt. Yes, he claims to be an anarcho capitalist but he still gonna have some govt to run. Use the money gained from it to run the govt. I can imagine trying to redistribute the fund and avoiding fraud to cost a pretty chunk of the sale price. Heck, call back Iberia airway and sell it back to them. Just about anything but this would be a better plan

Milei said he was going to give away the state airline to the govt union workers. This is what the man said, nobody is slandering him here. The so called anarcho capitalist can't seem to figure out a way to privatize this public institution.

Get a hold of yourself. You are now being unreasonable. The airline in question used to be owned by Iberia airways, they just recently nationalized. Sorry to break it to u, what he is proposing to do and thankfully hasn't done yet is something you would expect from an AOC. You create an awareness campaign that airline would be sold in 12 months to the highest bidder, you then give everybody that wants to run it a chance to inspect the business and put in their offer. Heck, I don't even care if they put in a requirement like the Chinese used to do for the buying group be 51% plus local based. Do whatever you want to do but you sell it at the end of the day. Airlines are just about the easiest of govt properties to sell and if this man claiming to be an anarcho capitalist can't figure it out, then there is something wrong with him. Also, I am 100% sure that Ron Paul would have come up with a 100x better idea on how to privatize the airline. This is AOC level thinking.

Pump the brakes, this is a freaking airline, not a utility or communication infrastructure or some other hard to sell off entity. Yes, you sell it to the highest bidder (foreign or domestic) and use the money to reduce taxes or pay off debt. Govt airlines has to be the easiest type of govt company to sell. I don't wanna hate him but the level of adulation liberty people are giving this guy before he even gets into office is shocking. Still on a wait and see, he has not yet given the airlines over to the worker but if he doesnt then I am out.

https://www.airdatanews.com/state-owned-aerolineas-argentinas-should-be-transferred-to-employees-says-president-elect-javier-milei/ Anyone else think there are better ways to privatize a state owned company than handing it over to the unionized employees? Maybe I am not very well verse in anarcho capitalism but that looks more like socialism than capitalism.

Trump never claimed to be a libertarian, he is conservative lite who was supposed to stem the flow of illegal immigration. See, my problem is why go so extreme on the economic stuff while on the other hand being shy with the covid stuff. Is he afraid of them or is he strong, bold and brash about it all. It's the inconsistency that confuses me. Again, he could easily be simply pro Israel without being extreme about it. Just say that Israel has the right to exists and we should condemn terror attacks, things most rational people would accept, but all this visiting Israel as his first foreign visit is just going too far. So, does he care about the wrath of the multinationals or does he not care about it?

Wow and you know the funny thing? Argentina had one of the strictest lockdowns in the world and yet I cannot find any link of him speaking up against the vaccine. I am not surprised he did promo for the vaccine. Very libertarian of him.

Too early to say, he hasn't even been sworn in yet. I hope you are right and he won't send weapons and money to Ukraine. But I just think it's too early to react. My money says, he will be another fake conservative like Meloni in Italy.

Also, does anyone know his position on lockdowns. I know he got the vaccine but also don't know if he opposed the mandate. If he did not oppose or speak up against the lockdowns, then I don't trust him.

I am really worried about the people he trying so hard to appease. TPDB are not idiots, they know he what he is saying about the state and that if his intentions are true, then it will hurt them. These people dont give away their support for free, they usually want stuff back in return.

I truly hope he's for real but after getting my hopes up with a few politicians lately, I have become too cynical that I am just going to wait and see. Because if he has a bad run as president, everybody will just use him as an example of what would happen if we elect a libertarian president. And no, people won't take the excuse that he wasn't a real libertarian or govt got in his way.

People forget that there was a time, Boris Johnson claimed to be libertarian leaning. How about the new fire brand new PM in Italy that talked all that nonsense about limiting migrant boats? She got into power and has done thing about it. She is too busy now opposing Russia in Ukraine. I am not even saying someone should be pro Russia but whenever you have these neocons in power, they end up getting too preoccupied with it to do what they were elected to do
