https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/elections-2020/buttigieg-sounds-alarm-after-sanders-wins-nevada/ar-BB10hEQG?ocid=spartandhp LAS VEGAS - Former South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg on Saturday made his most explicit case yet that Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) would be unable to beat President Trump, just hours after Sanders vaulted ahead of his rivals in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination. "I believe the only way to truly deliver any of the progressive changes we care about is to be a nominee who actually gives a damn about the effect you are having, from the top of the ticket, on those crucial, front-line House and Senate Democrats running to win, who we need to win, to make sure our agenda is more than just words on a page," Buttigieg said. "Sen. Sanders, on the other hand, is ignoring, dismissing, or even attacking the very Democrats we absolutely must send to Capitol Hill in order to keep Nancy Pelosi as Speaker, in order to support judges who respect privacy and democracy, and in order to send Mitch McConnell into retirement. Let's listen to what those voices are telling us," he said. Buttigieg's remarks are potent because he is not the candidate who has won support from the most vulnerable House Democrats who have already endorsed a presidential contender. Most of those incumbents are backing former Vice President Joe Biden. In his remarks, Buttigieg also sought to cast himself as a pragmatic, yet ambitious, candidate capable of building the kind of coalition that Democrats will need to assemble if they hope to defeat Trump in the general election. Sanders, he said, would prioritize ideological purity and pie-in-the-sky policy proposals, while doing nothing to remedy the country's political divisions.

According to the article. 16 states have already passed legislation. I don't know if any of those have been challenged in court. If Texas & Virginia pass similar laws that brings the total to 216. And I agree, it would end the union.

Kidman entered the race against incumbent Republican Sen. Susan Collins in April 2019, inspired by the fight against the confirmation of Supreme Court Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Kidman describes herself as a non-binary, “***** feminist lawyer, mermaid, writer, activist, and artist.”

https://people.howstuffworks.com/electoral-college.htm Since then, a push to reform the Electoral College has been gaining steam. As of December 2016, California, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington and the District of Columbia have passed legislation that mandates electoral votes go to the presidential candidate who wins the national popular vote. In addition, 12 other states have passed a reform bill through one house. Still more states are introducing an Electoral College reform bill or discussing it in committee . This National Popular Vote law would take effect only when it's been passed by enough states to have a total number of electoral votes of 270. The DEMS are pushing the Popular Vote. So far the total is 165 electoral votes. Only 105 electoral votes needed to have popular vote become law. If Texas and Virginia go blue it would bring the total to 216. Then, you begin to look at states like PA,NC,OH,WI. https://www.thoughtco.com/electoral-votes-by-state-in-2016-3322035 The dissolution of the Electoral College will Balkanize the USA.

https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2020-02-22/trump-conservative-judges-9th-circuit When President Trump ticks off his accomplishments since taking office, he frequently mentions his aggressive makeover of a key sector of the federal judiciary — the circuit courts of appeal, where he has appointed 51 judges to lifetime jobs in three years. In few places has the effect been felt more powerfully than in the sprawling 9th Circuit, which covers California and eight other states. Because of Trump’s success in filling vacancies, the San Francisco-based circuit, long dominated by Democratic appointees, has suddenly shifted to the right, with an even more pronounced tilt expected in the years ahead. Trump has now named 10 judges to the 9th Circuit — more than one-third of its active judges — compared with seven appointed by President Obama over eight years. “Trump has effectively flipped the circuit,” said 9th Circuit Judge Milan D. Smith Jr., an appointee of President George W. Bush.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/california-gov-newsom-advocates-doctors-194327390.html “Doctors should be able to write prescriptions for housing the same way they do for insulin or antibiotics,” Newsom wrote in a Twitter post. “We need to start treating brain health like we do physical health. What’s more fundamental to a person’s well being than a roof over their head?” Newsom then appeared to link the treatment of mental health to his state’s housing shortage. “Physical health and brain health are inextricably linked. And our healthcare system has been designed to treat only one of those,” Newsom wrote. “Let’s be clear: Massive failures in our mental health system and disinvestment in our social safety net—exacerbated by widening income inequality and our housing shortage— has led us to where we are today: too many Californians left to live on our streets.” California is experiencing a simultaneous housing shortage and homelessness crisis. Around 130,000 homeless people reside in California, almost half the homeless population in the U.S. 60,000 of those live in Los Angeles County, while 28,000 homeless live in the San Francisco Bay area. In his state of the state address on Wednesday, Newsom devoted much of his time to advocating for more housing in California. Newsom called for exempting supportive housing from environmental regulations statewide.
