Oh hell no! we’re asking New Yorkers to show up for their neighbors and intervene when witnessing hateful violence or harassment. I know that can be frightening when you aren’t sure what to do or say, but you can learn.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nullification_(U.S._Constitution) Nullification, in United States constitutional history, is a legal theory that a state has the right to nullify, or invalidate, any federal laws which that state has deemed unconstitutional with respect to the United States Constitution (as opposed to the state's own constitution). The theory of nullification has never been legally upheld by federal courts. Both are long shots. At least with secession we have self determination. With Nullification, your still part of the Federal System, albeit nullifying selective laws.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/u-s-house-set-to-vote-on-bills-to-expand-gun-background-checks/ar-BB1elq6a?ocid=anaheim-ntp-feeds WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. House of Representatives is set to vote on Wednesday on a pair of bills to expand background checks before gun purchases, two years after a similar House effort failed to make it through the Senate. The House Rules Committee on Monday will take up the two bills that Democrats, who control the chamber, say are aimed at closing loopholes in the background check system. The Rules Committee action is a procedural step before the full House votes. A congressional aide said the chamber was poised to vote on the bills on Wednesday. The House passed two bills in 2019 to expand background checks but they were never taken up by the then-Republican-controlled Senate. Nearly all legislation in the 100-member Senate requires 60 votes and the prospects of overcoming that hurdle are uphill at best in the evenly divided chamber.

Announcing the attacks, the Houthis also said they attacked military targets in the Saudi cities of Dammam, Asir and Jazan.

The warp drive flies in the face of what we have long thought about as the crazy concept of warp speed travel: that it requires exotic, negative forces. PhysOrg reports that scientists Alexey Bobrick and Gianni Martire have written a paper describing their ideas for a warp drive and have published it in IOPs "Classical and Quantum Gravity." Bobrick and Martire start with an Alcubierre warp drive concept, a concept developed by Miguel Alcubierre in 1994. Alcubierre envisioned it as a spacecraft that could contract space-time in front of the vehicle while expanding it behind the craft. But such a ship would require a massive amount of negative energy that would not be feasible for a real spacecraft.

Speaking on Fox News on Wednesday night, Mr Pompeo said he would consider running for president if former President Donald Trump does not. It follows Mr Trump’s suggestion on Sunday that he may be considering another run for office in 2024, in a speech delivered to the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Orlando, Florida. Mr Pompeo was asked by Fox News anchor Sean Hannity on Wednesday whether he would “consider getting in that race” should Mr Trump eventually pull out of contention for 2024.

https://www.marketwatch.com/story/petaluma-calif-becomes-first-u-s-city-to-ban-construction-of-new-gas-stations-01614828545 PETALUMA, Calif. — A Northern California city has become what’s believed to be the first in the country to ban all new gas stations in an effort to curb carbon emissions. The Petaluma City Council voted unanimously Monday to prohibit the creation, expansion, reconstruction and relocation of gas stations, encouraging owners to transition to stations that serve electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. The city of 58,000 people 40 miles north of San Francisco hopes to become carbon neutral by 2030. “We need to do our part to help mitigate and adapt to our changing weather patterns that exist because of all the carbon we put in the atmosphere,” Councilwoman D’Lynda Fischer, who spearheaded the initiative, said Tuesday.

The inspector general referred the matter to the Justice Department in December for possible criminal investigation. But in the weeks before the end of Trump administration, two Justice Department divisions declined to do so. Ms. Chao, the wife of Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the Republican leader, announced her resignation on Jan. 7, the day after the Capitol riot. At the time of her departure, an aide to Ms. Chao said her resignation was unrelated to the inspector general’s investigation.
